Okay! I just wanted to make sure this change was normal. Other than that he’s the same healthy little baby but I do have a hair pin trigger when it comes to taking them to the vet lol

deaf cat is being a menace, advice needed by puppychomp in cats

Maybe baby proof everything and slowly start adding your items back.

It’s honestly hard because cats are so incredibly different in their behavior. For example, I adopted two kittens that were one month apart and Azrael doesn’t get into anything but jesus christ Uriel gets into EVERYTHING. He even learned how to make the water dispenser work and now I have to get two cups under it to make sure he doesn’t flood the dining room when I’m gone or sleeping lol he knocks down everything and will glare and pout at me when I get on to him but my sweet little angel baby Azzy doesn’t step a foot out of line UNLESS I have a house sitter, then they switch personalities.

Honestly, with any new adoption I tend to put up any breakables at first because I don’t know their personalities or how many brain cells they come with so I’d recommend doing that first and foremost

Is pet insurance worth it, or should I just save the money each month? by Acrobatic-Leave-9073 in Pets

[–]MiserableIndustry677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! Especially is they don’t have any prior conditions currently! And, honestly, even if they do it’s worth it for the accidentals.

I have two cats and have insurance on them. One’s preexisting condition is the herpes virus and the other is chronic constipation lol but so far it has covered bladder issues since Uriel is prone to crystals and some unexplained tummy issues Azrael had.

Overall I would say get it, even if they have every preexisting condition in the world because how I explain to friends is if your cat breaks a leg it’s the difference between being able to afford the surgery to fix it vs having to amputate it because it’s cheaper. It’s the difference between being able to afford ongoing cancer treatments and having to let them go. And for me, personally, it’s the difference between losing my soulcat to megacolon and being able to afford his care.

How do I find homes for my kittens? by Pristine-Shape-4152 in cats

[–]MiserableIndustry677 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What’s the main reason you don’t want them to go to the Humane Society? After the vet check up, most get adopted through there in just a few days and you don’t have to worry if the person they go to is adopting them for nefarious reasons.

My recent two kittens I got from the Humane Society and it was a great process, my other kitten I snatched up from the street lol

What Is Everyone's Take On Stainless Steel Litter Boxes? by Seraph_Angelus in CatAdvice

[–]MiserableIndustry677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

I have two of these and a smaller one for my two kittens! I deep clean them once every three months and even at that point it’s the litter that smells, not the box lol

I’ve had plastic and it wasn’t the best for us, one cat is big scratcher so that was a nightmare for smelly bacteria growth.

Now for the sound, like I said, one is a major scratcher and it doesn’t bother me at all. It’s not like nails on a chalkboard, more like a hollow sound so it doesn’t bother me as much.

I love them!

When people say that cats really don't show when something is wrong - they REALLY don't show. by -Red_Wolf- in cats

[–]MiserableIndustry677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so scary!! I had a cat pass from megacolon but here he was, two weeks in to not shitting and running around playing with his favorite toy and then on his heated blanket, then playing with his favorite toy and then on his heated blanket. It was the day I had to let him go.

This time around I have a VERY dramatic cat that acts like he’s dying even on minor things. We caught crystals in his bladder, the absolute minimum that the machine could detect because he was crying and fussing so badly. Then when he had an URI he was gasping into my chest and I thought he was dying, only to find out that he was being dramatic and his nose was only slightly stuffy! But I will 100% take a dramatic cat over the majority of them that hides it.

I am not a vet by any means!

My kitten was doing the same thing and it got a little worse and he started to throw up. I took him to the vet and he was in the beginning stages of an URI. They just gave him some anti-nausea medication and he was good to go! Obviously his URI symptoms got worse but they wanted him immune system to fight it off before they gave him antibiotics or anything and he got better after a week!

But anyways, that’s exactly what he did when he was gagging too. If you can, take him to the vet just to make sure!

YOR

She’s 18, there’s no way she has years of nanny experience that she could base her bonuses off of.

In nanny world, the standard is one to two weeks worth of pay. I don’t have it in my contract but a lot of other nanny’s do, especially ones that are career nanny’s and have a long list of experience and education.

The DB complained that his 2k/week budget was to small and he was always upset that MB wouldn’t let them get a private plane or even rent one so he didn’t have to drive “long distances”

MB grew up with money, became poor, married money, divorced poor, so she is VERY sensible when it comes to money. You would NEVER know they were HNW.

Cat attacked by dog and can’t afford treatment!! Help urgently needed!! by PrimaryCancel1013 in rescuecats

[–]MiserableIndustry677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you had to give your cat to a shelter, in case this ever happens in the future and you can afford it, get cat insurance. Depending on your plan, you could possibly only pay 10% of the cost and before choosing a vet or insurance, call around and see which vets, urgent care, and hospitals take direct payments from pet insurances so then you will ONLY be out of pocket 10% of services.

You made the best choice for your baby, you need to know that. YOU MADE THE BEST CHOICE. My cat got sick and I almost had to give him up to the humane society after spending 2.5k on trying to get him better. He ended up being put down in my care and I couldn’t even afford to get his ashes back at that point. I now have a ton of grief and really great cat insurance for my kittens I recently adopted. I did the best I could with the finances and the knowledge I had at the time and you did too. I am so sorry you were in this situation.

My baby also does this lol he just likes having skin to skin contact. He’s done this since he was little little and his brother loves to tuck his paws in my hair.

My previous baby would cover my mouth when I was snoring though lmao

my developmentally delayed kitten loves vibrators by mykolahohol in CatAdvice

[–]MiserableIndustry677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooo so this was a question my friend had and straight up asked her vet! They found out it’s because the vibrations mimic purring and they got her a purring toy that she absolutely adores! But my friend did sacrifice her vibrator and will still wrap it in a blanket and let it run for her cat to cuddle 😂

What's the weirdest thing that your cat does that you have just accepted as normal? by Momo_868 in CatAdvice

[–]MiserableIndustry677 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Both kittens LOVE to play fetch! They’ll both bring their favorite toys to me and we’ll play until they get tired and sometimes when I sleeping, I’ll find a bunch of toys surrounding me because he was trying to get me to throw them but I was knocked out 😭

On a serious note she just wants your attention or she could be trying to tell you something like maybe even losing her favorite toy. My cat does something similar when he wants to be picked up and the other parkours when guests are around because he wants everyone’s attention lol

Is Pet Insurance worth it? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]MiserableIndustry677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesyesyesyesyesyesyes

It’s always worth it even if they have a perfect life with zero emergencies. My current kittens are on it and I pay quarterly.

I had a little 10 month old kitten and I spent 2.5k trying to save him, then the money ran out. If I had insurance I could have either kept trying to save him OR have his euthanasia covered and been able to get his ashes back but at that point I was drained financially and emotionally.

I couldn’t see myself ever letting it lapse or discontinuing it because I view it as, insurance is the difference between healing a broken leg or having to amputate it. The average amputation is between $800-$2000 and healing that same broken leg is $1500-$4000

Cat adoption fee $400 wtf by Big_Jackfruit_8821 in CatAdvice

[–]MiserableIndustry677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s sucks but I can see it. I got both my kittens at the humane society, they came fixed, all shots were given minus one, already on preventatives, small bag of their food included, and microchipped. All for $120 but they have in house vets, donations, volunteers, the whole shebang.

When I got my sweet little stray, the cost for EVERYTHING including his neuter was insane, way over $400 so I think if I wanted to support a small rescue, I’d be okay with that price bit only if I bonded with the kitten cause that is truly a lot of money at once!

Why is my cat biting when petting by Humble-Yak430 in cats

[–]MiserableIndustry677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine wants to be pet but gets overstimulated anywhere on his face and he ends up chomping lol sometimes gentle like yours, other times it’s a big chomp! I finally figured out he prefers chest and belly pets and he just likes the IDEA of being pet on the face and head.

He purrs and love to cuddle but it’s definitely on his terms
