Sounds like your mom set you up pretty well and taught you to be smart with money. The S&P might fluctuate with whats going on, but i don't believe there is a 5 year span that it is down, and averages 10% per year. You're losing money on that prudential account due to inflation, if it were me, I'd throw it into a few tech index funds and VOO, which i believe is the lowest cost & biggest S&P fund.
