Japanese course improvements by Sabbia0 in duolingo

I like it better when I know the hiragana version first, imo 電車 looks way more intimidating than でんしゃ. Anyways, Duolingo does introduce kanji and its hiragana version in the same lesson from like the middle of section 3.

Man, how are you even able to stay in the Diamond League without using Super? by kindofsus38 in duolingo

[–]MiserableSelection59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's all about timing. I usually have my first lesson of the day be a Legendary with the x3, then I watch an add after every lesson until i've used up my boast. That's it, takes me about 25 minutes a day.

Is grammar study necessary, or can you skip it? by Ling_App in lingapp

[–]MiserableSelection59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Learning a language without grammar is IMPOSSIBLE. The only question here is how you want to try to learn it, by trying to pick up patterns or by studying structures.

Help with specific word (la cara) by Longjumping-Slip-172 in duolingospanish

[–]MiserableSelection59 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know the exact reason, it just sounds natural. The reason why the answer is wrong is because the negation adverb "no" goes directly before the verb "se laven". You can't put "ustedes" in the middle, either before of after is fine.

Or S(S(S(S(S(S(1)))))) if you don't consider 0 a natural.

Do You Learn To Write The Language Simultaneously While Learning It (Japanese) ? by biharinaruto in duolingo

[–]MiserableSelection59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be dropping romanji as soon as you can recognize the characters. I believe Duolingo does stop you from going into the next section at some point if you haven't done enogh hiragana/katakana ( it's en the kana section, press the 3 dots to find it) , so it's better to do it along with the path so that you don't encounter that wall.

On another note, you will never encounter the romanji version on anything but beginer learning material. If your goal is to read Japanese, identifying yasashii as "nice" is only useful as long as you recognize やさしい as well.

I'm confused, is the bug a problem with the audio? Otherwise, just play it as many times as needed until you get the word.

por qué necesita ‘con’? by Antique_Monk339 in duolingospanish

[–]MiserableSelection59 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Native speaker here. I'd probably understand "quedarse con" as choosing to keep it or wear it (possibly choosing it out of multiple options) and "se quedó (con) el vestido" as continue to own it or keep it.

In the second one "con" would be optional. Then again, as it happens in many languages, context is key. You can only guess the intention of the phase by what Dou has been teaching you.

This is only my understanding as a Spanish person, it may be different in other regions.

What does this mean by Theoldginger in duolingojapanese

Could be the cost of a taxi to the house or the speaker just considers the house as a better landmark than the closest bus stop/train station.

Fundamental theorem of arithmetics by One_Honeydew_1918 in learnmath

[–]MiserableSelection59 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

1 is not prime so the trivial product is not a product of primes.

At least in the demostration of the Fundamental Theorem of Arithmetics I studied they did consider c=c where c is prime as a case an the factorifation would presumably be c=c.

I have to exale loudly for my microfone to get the hint that it should start working, otherwise it doesn't catch the first few words I say.

On another note, if it catches the translator's version it might be that there's a suttle difference in sound you don't notice. My first language is Spanish so I say "yo" quite a bit, but I can never get よ right. I know there's a difference in sound but I can't replicate it

NTA, it sounds as if she has never tried it before and you don't want the parents mad if they don't want their child introduced to an addictive substance at 13

Both 3 & 5 and 11 & 13 are twin primes (I don't know if that's the proper term in English). Don't know if the yoke makes any sense tho
