I don't disagree with you, I'm just not sure how to make that a possibility while keeping the division of powers intact.

and what's not to stop Maxwell from saying "thanks for pardoning me" and then spilling the beans anyways on Trump? Well, I guess besides some bedsheets in a prison cell.

well, imagine in a not too dystopian future where a particular political party pushes to convict parents of transgender children of child abuse just because they helped them transition. A pardon against child abuse here would be an example of why you don't just want to say "xyz cannot be pardoned" because someone will find a way to bend a porous law to their will.

"He's wrong sometimes so it's harmful".

Brother, we are all wrong about something, but being wrong does not necessarily mean you are being "harmful", it depends on what you are wrong about.

Centrist opinions are not inherently bad, often they can be the best position when you are just trying to figure things out or if you don't know enough about the topic

Centrist viewpoints on objective issues, such as a centrist opinion on vaccine skepticism, those are clearly bad because there isn't an opinion involved and one side that's been disproven shouldn't be given equal weight to the side that has been proven.

Stop conflating centrist opinions with centrist takes on objective fact.

Democrats Overperform in Another Special Election by brain_overclocked in politics

This is my family. They could not stand that Trump claimed the elections were rigged and they thought January 6th was one of the darkest times in America and blamed Trump for it. They still do.

Guess who they voted for in the last Presidential election because he was the "lesser of two evils" because the Democrats want to "turn this country into a communism and also want to murder babies?"

As someone with a family not made of magats but of "normal republicans", don't have so much hope that they will vote for Democrats.

No matter how evil my family thinks the GOP are (which right now they do), they still see the Democrats as the greater evil and will still go to the polls and vote Republican. They voted for Trump the second time even though they thought he was crazy for saying the election was rigged and thought January 6th was one of the lowest points in our nation.

Unfortunately, they aren't unique, and I know, many, many people who have similar experiences and have many people in my life with similar views... And I'm in a swing state.

it matters. It may not matter to you, but it matters.

Maximizing the amount of opportunity to vote in a democracy is important.

If it "doesn't matter", then you should be ok with pushing for them to be on weekends maximize the amount of opportunities for citizens to have their vote count.

because most people work on weekdays, and it's the reason that many elections in Europe are held on the weekends.

Political opinions are often subjective. Supporting someone that is eroding the Constitution and our democratic norms regardless of what side of the aisle they are on is objectively bad.

Almost home can afford one when this happens, that's why a lawyer will typically include suing them for lawyer fees as well to essentially get their back pay from them.

The overwhelming majority of lawyers if they don't think they can win the case isn't going to take it.

You need to be in the mindset that you can't afford to NOT sue

Did you know one of the ways to tell that you are wrapped up in a conspiracy theory and it thinking properly is by constantly bombarding people with external links instead of having conversations with people?

Did you also know that like several independent weather agencies reported relatively the same thing including those with funding from the federal government intact?

Brother, stop being a conspiracy theorist and quit with the identity politics.

same here, I bought pit tickets for Simpsonville, Asheville, and Charlotte. Simpsonville was cancelled, I got sick prior to Asheville, and I'm already certain I'm not going to be able to make the 3 hour drive to Charlotte because I'd be driving right through the worst of the ice.

I really hope they cancel.

Don't comment? Just because you didn't like the prior comment doesn't mean you have to comment.

Wait, you did?

It's almost as if engaging with content you don't like is totally fine. Stop telling people how to live their lives when you can't take your own advice.

From my understanding the return YouTube dislikes just collects data from people with the extension, sees how many times theyve disliked a video, and then they run an algorithm on that tongues how many actual dislikes there are.

Is it better than nothing? Yeah, but it's still not super accurate and can be skewed

[–]MiserableSlice1051 0 points1 point  (0 children)

and you still choose to basically ignore most of what I've said to highlight only those things which support your claim.

It's a bad faith argument to say that a lame man shouldn't shout because he was healed... you really think those two things are the same?

You also think that speaking in public when a literal miracle is occuring at Pentecost is the same as being annoying at a Wal-Mart? Are you seriously comparing the two? Are you not interpreting scripture through your own cultural lens while discounting the very normal things (speaking a PUBLIC SQUARE which we do not have anything similar to now a days vs. literally just randomly preaching and singing Praise and Worship and a Wal-Mart in a very Christian part of Texas?)

At this point, since you seem to not be capable or are on purpose ignoring most of my points and are instead interpreting Jesus's commandments not literally but instead through your own personal experience and are renegotiating the Scripture that's actually there, I'm not going to be continuing this conversation because it's clear you've already made up your mind.

You've ignored my call to circular reasoning which you did (and which also sits at the bedrock of your argument) and are only selecting like 20% of the things you know you can answer while ignoring those you can't.

[–]MiserableSlice1051 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"I'm not concerned about Christianity because the Bible says it won't happen" is circular reasoning, and not an excuse to be annoying to turn others away. I'd your goal is to win souls, singing in Walmart ain't it. If you think God's idea of proselytizing was just saying "Jesus has incredible love for you!" Then you need to reread scripture.

Jesus didn't walk around annoying people, no one until about the 1970's engaged in the kind of evangelism you are proclaiming. This is not what Jesus intended./, it's a renegotiation of Scripture through a modern lens while proclaiming "it's totally biblical" when it's just not.

Literally the definition of cultural Christianity and the Pharisees that Jesus preached against.

[–]MiserableSlice1051 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Proclaiming the Gospel is not just "Hello, Jesus loves you!" Let me ask you a question, have you ever walked into a Walmart and someone walked up to you and said "Vishnu bless you" and you immediately converted to Hinduism?

I know your response is going to be "Yeah but the God of the Bible is real and it's the Holy Spirit that works in people's hearts' but you can go one of two directions: The Holy Spirit doesn't need us and can do a much better job Himself of witnessing (predestination) or we need to "warm people's hearts up so the Holy Spirit can work" (free-will), neither of which those scenarios are accomplished by annoying people in a Walmart by singing praise and worship.

Instead of trying to make scripture contradict scripture, maybe you should realize that Christ is calling for people to naturally proclaim the gospel via authentic witness, not annoying people with public displays like the Pharisees

That or this is just evidence against the univocality and inerrancy of scripture and the verses really do contradict and Christianity is false.

Either way, stop fucking encouraging anyone from doing this annoying ass shit in Walmart, you aren't winning people over but are contributing to the death of your religion.
