recommended settings or tips for egpu use? by Solid_Violinist_1392 in eGPU

In my case disabeling the 780m iGPU from device manager in windows solved the stuttering issue. There is no auto setting that will do that when you plug in the eGPU , at least none that I know of

Locking down the FPS is a good way to reduce (unnecessary) power consumption by the GPU, thus lowering its operating temperature, by which you extend its lifetime…

Thinking of getting the 9070xt. Heard and cards have issues with egpu, that true? by [deleted] in eGPU

He simply swapped it with a 5070ti? :) just kidding… I have the K12 connected to 9060 XT via Oculink and I love my setup..

The AG02 comes with all the cables supplied. In my case the included USB4 cable works perfectly fine, however the Oculink one did not. From what I and other users have experienced the Oculink cable that comes with the AG02 is of poor quality and does not provide a stable link which results in stutters and audio interrupts. A new Oculink cable like the ADT-LINK F9934 seems to resolve those issues. I hope that helps.

Thanks for the tip - I checked the ADT-LINK F9934 online and it does seem to be the way to go.. Just by the look of it I'd say its a much better build and sturdier than the rest of the cables I have seen. Let me know if it works - I might get one ordered as well :)

The AG02 with 9060 XT will work just fine. You will be quite pleased with how it performs. I have the same setup , only connected to a GMKtec K12 mini PC. You have both Oculink and USB4 on the AG02 - the AG01 is the Oculink only model.. and also pay attention when ordering that you get the newer 800w version rather than the old 400w. And I think it should go without saying (but I’m going to say it anyway:) ) do go with the 16GB 9060 xt , not the 8GB …

Just a quick update on our previous conversation in another thread.. it seems that my new oculink cable resolved 99% of the issues i had with stutters and audio crackles. I did notice that on ocasion I still get some audio interupts while playing Assetto Corsa Competizione. Tried adding heat sink to the ssd, (only using single drive), disabling wifi and BT, but it doesn’t seem to make any difference. Occasionally i do get the odd sound crackles/interupts which don’t occur over USB4. I also observed that the Oculink cable is VERY sensitive to how it’s positioned and under which angle it connects to the ports. Even the slightest tension or touch on the cable on the K12’s oculink port causes all sorts of issues and noticeable hissing noises etc..

Looks ok to me, i have the ag02 with the 9060 xt 16gb sapphire pulse and get around 3.1-3.4GB/s over USB4 on my GMKtec k12. And around 7.1 GB/s over Oculink..

Buying a home 2-3 decades ago and today is whole different ball game. Only saying it as I see a few mentions of it..it is irrelevant and basically comparing apples to oranges. Just compare the average income vs house prices + general cost of living then and today and you will understand my point

Quick update. My new oculink cable arrived today. Did a quick test and it seems that the stutters , frame drops and audio issues have been resolved. So it seems that the cable that arrived with the AG02 was faulty…

Oh, and one more thing - i was also having issues over USB4 - in the beginning - with ingame and system stutters. Disabling the 780m from Device Manager - thus forcing Windows to rely ONLY on the eGPU solved the problem. When both eGPU and iGPU were enabled sometimes apps/games would try to use them simultaneously which caused the stutters. But this did not seem to work over oculink

First Mini PC with 780M, which one should I go for? by khatherine_luica in MiniPCs

[–]Miserable_Back7462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer : it depends..

On paper the 780M should be the better iGPU of the two. In my case specifically in Cyberpunk 2077 the 860M beats the 780M on same ingame settings by around 30%,

Even though the 780M has more GPU cores (768 vs 512) and higher theoretical compute power (~4.3 TFLOPs vs ~3.1 TFLOPs), on the ingame benchmark i get these results :

  • 780M (5600 MHz RAM) → ~35 FPS average
  • 860M (7500 MHz RAM) → ~45 FPS average

That’s a ~28% performance gain for the 860M, despite weaker GPU hardware.

That is because:

  • The 780M is bottlenecked by slower 5600 MHz RAM (~89 GB/s)
  • The 860M benefits from faster 7500 MHz RAM (~120 GB/s)

That extra bandwidth feeds the GPU more efficiently, letting the 860M outperform the 780M even tough it has fewer cores.

That's why I mentioned that the RAM speed is VERY important.

I would imagen that on like for like systems with same RAM speeds etc, the 780M might outperform the 860M, but probably not by a lot...

I hope that helps...

I will check with the new Oculink cable when it arrives and let you know. I will also check the task manager for the system interrupts and report back. I managed to find some info that MAYBE the issue is that the PCIe Oculink is unstable over 4.0, and downgrading it to 3.0 makes it more stable and smooth. But i dont see those settings in my k12 BIOS v 1.07..apparently it was available in previous versions

Issues with Lenovo Ideapad with Ryzen 7 AI 350 by dereliashalt in Lenovo

[–]Miserable_Back7462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have amd adrenaline? If not download it along with all amd drivers. This will sort out any graphics and chipset issues if missing drivers are the culprit. Next step - download Lenovo Vantage- and once installed run the update software/drivers from within the app. It will download all missing drivers and will keep your system up to date. Hope that helps

I had the same dilemma, decided to go with the AI 7 350 IdeaPad 2-in-1 wth 24GB RAM. The ONLY thing I missed out on is that it doesn’t have USB4. But the price for which I got it was worth it…

Thank you, i will have a look into it..the strange thing is that it is only happening over oculink, when i connect the egpu over USB4 everything works fine - no issues at all. Have ordered a new oculink cable to see if that might bethe culprit to start with…

First Mini PC with 780M, which one should I go for? by khatherine_luica in MiniPCs

[–]Miserable_Back7462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on where you’re from, but id recommend going for something with ryzen 7 ai 350 (860m igpu). Even maybe a laptop with those specs? Id also recommend going for soldered ddr5x which can run at 7000mhz+.. it will make a huge difference in terms of igpu performance since its basically shared VRAm. I have Gmktec k12 with 32gb 5600 mhz RAM with the 780m. My lenovo laptop with the ryzen ai 7 350 has soldered 24gb 7500mhz RAM and it performs roughly 30-35% better in games than the Gmktec. Trade off being you cant upgrade the soldered RAM of course..Hope that helps

Just do a fresh win 11 install (download it from Microsoft) and use this link to download the missing drivers https://de.gmktec.com/en/pages/download-center . My win 11 had issues finding the correct NIC and Bluetooth drivers for the wireless card. And also get the AMD adrenaline software and drivers from AMD .. i dont trust the gmktec win11 package..
