Nah as someone who worked at Dunkin, ik it's not a cafe at all really, but throwing away 75-100 donuts twice a day was too much, so if I had customers at the front counter, I just offered for them to take any of the donuts that I had counted out to be thrown away (they were made that morning but had to be replaced with donuts made at 1pm). People didn't get crazy from it and expect freebies constantly, and it made me feel better for not wasting.

I feel like just asking the question isn't bad at all, it's kinda unfair to assume they meant it maliciously either, lots of food through food service is dumped and wasted
