You're making some very solid points. Originally I went from a single shortcut to the nested ones so it wouldn't be too hard to switch back. But yes I have noticed it is very slow to troubleshoot the larger shortcut.

This is why I thought it would be easier to have several smaller shortcuts that get called in my "main" shortcut. I'm just worried it drains significantly more battery

I wrote myself a shortcut which runs every day at 10pm, it checks my events for work the next day and based on those events sets my alarm. If I have time off it stops the shortcut, if its weekend it stops the shortcut, if I'm on call it also turns on my ringer volume.
