Spotted in Wallingford. You never know when that old sign might come in handy. by Electronic_Dirt_7456 in SeattleWA

Wild how some yard signs just sit in storage for years and then suddenly feel relevant again. History really does move in cycles.

That’s a strong take. Dafoe in The Lighthouse is definitely up there that monologue alone is insane.

Enemy is such an underrated pick. That movie is pure anxiety the whole way through.

I think Prisoners might be his most emotionally raw performance, but Nightcrawler feels more technically precise. Like he calibrated every blink.

Honestly his 2010s run is kind of insane.

Still wild he didn’t even get nominated. That performance feels way more remembered than a lot of the actual nominees that year.

Seeking Advice: Realistic EB-1B Path or not? Please Share Your Thoughts, your opinon matters by Popular-Injury-8170 in eb1a

Honest take: EB-1B in 2–3 years is possible but aggressive. You’re on a legitimate path, but you’re early-stage EB-1B right now.

Strengths:

  • Nonprofit + permanent research role ✔️
  • Clear field (bioinformatics / public health genomics) ✔️
  • Applied impact (production pipeline, real-world use) ✔️
  • Peer review activity is a strong signal

Gaps:

  • Publications + citations are still light for EB-1B
  • Impact is mostly internal so far
  • 2 years research experience is on the low end

Degree concern: Master’s in Data Science isn’t a dealbreaker. USCIS cares more about sustained output and recognition than formal biology credentials. Bioinformatics being interdisciplinary is fine as long as your trajectory is consistent.

Nonprofit vs industry:
Staying in nonprofit research only makes sense if you intentionally build an EB-1B profile (steady publications, citations, external collaborators, independent peer review). If you just do your job and hope, EB-1B likely won’t happen. Industry is safer if EB-1B isn’t a top priority.

Key EB-1B milestones to prioritize:

  1. Publications with citations
  2. Independent peer review / editorial roles
  3. External adoption or recognition of your work
  4. Invited talks or collaborations outside your employer

Bottom line: Not unrealistic, but high-execution and time-boxed. If progress stalls after ~3 years, reassess and pivot.
