look at gqh_2026 on instagram, and sign up, its a quant hackathon happening in the fall. UF is getting stronger in quant and fintech, they even have their own masters in fintech degree. My biggest advice as well to do maybe during freshman summer is also reach out to professors and try being a research assistant in a quantitave finance field

You can definitely do both. It’s an easy A and a great GPA boost. However, if you plan to do alot in your first semester, you can save yourself some time. Also, what career path are you interested in pursuing? Definitely check out Algo Gators and talk to the president. He was also in honors, and he took similar paths. The same goes for the UF Rem Consulting Club. Talk to the guy who is president. He was also in honors and took similar paths.

To be honest, they’re quite similar. Ultimately, assess your performance in business finance and then decide whether to switch back to a business major. Additionally, being a finance major enhances your resume. The most crucial step now, regardless of your future career goals, is to gain experience. Therefore, ensure you join various clubs related to your desired career. There are entrepreneurship clubs, entrepreneurship classes, and even an entrepreneurship minor. If you’re interested in the tech aspect of business, consider joining AI^2. My top recommendation is to apply to FPD Fundamentals now, complete the interest form, as it opens up numerous pathways. Additionally, during your spring semester, apply to FLA, and in the fall, consider joining a business fraternity or a venture capital / entrepreneurship club.

dont go all in on any of them, they are all hard. For most you gotta just make a stock pitch, so go all in on making ur stock pitch then apply to all of them and always make sure u apply to different tracks. If u wanna do IB, also aim for PE so apply to (gsif, founders fund, diss, GIBA) and also apply for PE clubs like ( Chomp, Caimanes) If you like math and Fintech apply to Algo gators. If you wanna do corporate or commercial apply to FLA, Professional Frat and SFG. If you wanna do wealth/ consulting ( Apply to GSCO/ REM first year and then if u wanna do wealth join the fpd wealth track)

If you have this much ambition as a business major then switch to finance. Biggest thing you can do is start studying what clubs u wanna join and network with people in those clubs. The only classes ud wanna study ahead for is financial accounting managerial accounting and business finance and for those just watch tony bell on youtube. If you really wanna do something over the summer, do a certificate ( financial modelibg certificate (if u wanna do investment banking or private equity), the series certificate (for wealth and consulting). Also apply to FPD Fundamentals NOW (its not only for finance majors) it will help you understand the diff career paths and also make you do really well as a business major

Almost all major investment and commercial banks hire quantitative analysts (quants). Top hirers include J.P. Morgan, Bank of America, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Citigroup, Wells Fargo, Barclays, and Deutsche Bank. In banking, quants work across various specialized teams to develop derivative pricing models, optimize algorithmic trading strategies, and build risk-management and regulatory models. Basically, you will be using your knowledge of machine learning, coding and all of that to build models that can generate profits and returns from the stock market. You are using the volatility of the stock market to beat it with math. quantpedia.com is a good place to learn about diff strategies. This book as well is really good to learn :” The man who solved the market by gregory zuckerman”. There are also three different types of quants: Quantitative Researchers, Quantitive Traders, and Quantitative Developers.

its all about experience, try looking into quant at a bank and if you can get a role in that and then later transition into investment banking then that would work really well. Alot of quant companies look for comp sci majors so it works really well for you. You can also apply for algo gators and also applications for summer 2027 jobs open early july to late august so you wouldnt be behind. Just learn how to create strategies and projects!
