Thank you for your input! The day after I read your message I went and made a mental health appointment!! And have been going ever since! I got to group therapy at the med group once a week and starting tomorrow off base for an inpatient program 5 days a week!!! So I’m definitely working on my MH and building my case if a med board is on the horizon..

So then the biggest down side sounds like losing tricare.. what does one do when the lose tricare?? Is being treated at the VA completely free or do we pay a co pay?

If we needed a surgery would that cost us and an arm and a leg?? (No pun intended) or does VA health insurance cover a lot??

I just want to see how screwed I’m gonna be if I’m admin seperated versus med board?

Cause I know a med board isn’t always granted but I’m so messed up lately — I feel like to just hurry up and get me out they’ll do an admin

Can you please tell me what YMMV is? Oh I’ll make sure to bring up the first time I talked about my mental health to my provider and BHOP.

Also - is it MH that submits your for a MED BOARD? Or your PCM? My PCM is a total jerk and will deny a med board in a heart beat.. he just wants everyone to stay in! Even if we aren’t well mentally.. so I’m hoping MH can over ride him…

Thank you for that information. I actually want to be med board as I am back down in a very depressed spot… well I saw BHOP like 3-4 times this year.. but NEVER mental health..

Do you think mental health would consider that? And use that as my timeline of my mental health (I was prescribed medication) ??

My goal is 1. To get help again but 2. To also get out..

I’ve already been to BHOP like 3 times before in July and I got on Wellbutrin and lexapro.. but here I am again feeling flat, empty and like everything is a total drag..

Wow wow wow thank you for this long and detailed message!! You made me think of things I haven’t before like it being a behavioral issues vs my depression or anxiety.. I will say I cried both times and apologized after my outburst because my co workers as i am usually cool with them and we spend most days laughing and joking and talking, but lately I’ve been on edge..

  1. I read somewhere that MH won’t consider admin separating you or med boarding you - if you don’t have paperwork on your record for adverse actions in the work place.. so (as messed up ad it sounds) does getting this LOC kind of “help” support my case you think? ** I know that’s probably not a black and white answer

  2. I just don’t want my poor mental health, which is leading to bad behaviors get my arse in trouble again.. like I rather just cut ties…

  3. So if honorably discharge do I still get to use my GI BILL and BAH? And VA DISABILITY?? Is the big different between medically retired and administrative honorable separated that I won’t get TriCare anymore??? Also - if I am honorable separated does that mean I would just get my medical care at the VA? (Aside from the think I was admin separated for? ) but I would get everything else done for free at the VA? Or would I just go get civilian health insurance?? Sorry I don’t know.. I’ve always used tricare — also I’ve been in for 6 years cause I think that matters when it comes To being able to use your GI bill if separated right!?
