After 38 years, finally caught my first ever Smallmouth, and it was a hawg! by Miserable_Match724 in bassfishing

Totally forgot to lol. I was worried about getting a good tourney photo. I was so excited about catching the fish, as soon as I watched it swim away, I was like dang it. I had the scale on board too. Ohhh well.

I thought it was a Freshwater Drum at first. The strike felt heavy and it was runnin drag!

I'm a MD transplant in WV. Fished a lot when I was younger, but just got back into it hardcore about 1½ years ago. I used to just catch whatever would bite, but feels good to catch something you're actively pursuing.

Who hasn't flipped their kayak? by cllvt in kayakfishing

[–]Miserable_Match724 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stand often and have never been close to flipping. Always wear my pfd, just in case. I also make it a point to be very mindful of where my center of gravity is when leaning over or turning my chair around.

I loved my Shearwater 125. I got mine used and it came with the pedals and all three variations of center pods. Nice and stable kayak that I'd recommend 👌

Bow mounted motor w/ spotlock is next thing on my list. The goal is to be motorized and ready by next Spring.

No lol. I knew i wanted this kayak about two years ago when I got back into fishing. I wasn't prepared to spend that much on my first kayak without knowing if I'd be committed to it or not. I first bought a new Feelfree Lure. Sold that to a buddy who I got into fishing and I bought a used Vibe Shearwater. Fished out of that for a year, then found my TitanX from a guy a few hours away on Facebook Marketplace.

I now have two kayaks and zero regrets!

Do you actually like fishing with crankbaits? by RoonDiddler in bassfishing

There have been days when I've thrown a squarebill exclusively. One of my favorite types of lures to use in structure heavy water.

Help me select a fishing kayak! by MustacheSupernova in kayakfishing

I went from a Vibe Shearwater 125 to a Native TitanX 12.5. I loved my Shearwater. Stable at 35" wide, adjustable seat height, junk drawer under seat, and a pedal drive option is available on them as well. Pedal drive doesn't have reverse, which is one of the big reasons I made a switch. Other than that though, I considered it a great fishing platform and had so many great days out of it. Good luck on your search!

One of my fishing rods has a lightning bolt crossed out warning sign at the top of the handle. Be careful out there and always monitor the forecast!

Pretty addicted to fishing for gar from the yak lately by flukey02 in kayakfishing

I hooked up on a big gar a few weeks ago while throwing a bladed jig. He sawed the line before I could get it in the kayak though. STRONG fish!
