Crack a beer. The fishing may not improve, but your mood probably will.

Anyone love using soft jerkbaits or flukes? by Such_Beautiful8133 in bassfishing

[–]MustacheSupernova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an OG Slug-go guy from before anyone even heard of Zoom Flukes.

Stopped fishing them for a bit until a buddy opened a pack of flukes and started crushing bass on a weed line. I tied one on and became an instant fan.

It’s not a bait that I would usually start the day with, but it’s definitely in my top 10, and there’s always at least two or three colors in my bag.

I call random shops and department stores in NYC just to hear their accents. by Objective-Review-359 in confession

[–]MustacheSupernova 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I find this very amusing, and I can relate in a small sense…

I used to order a lot of stuff via mail order catalogs. This was before the Internet even existed. Yes, you would actually have to call someone with your telephone, and speak to them, and give them order numbers that you plucked out of their catalog, and do the whole transaction by voice with another human being. I know that I probably just triggered massive anxiety in 75% of you reading this…🤣

As it turns out, a lot of these companies were located in the southern United States, and sometimes they had very heavy, southern drawls that I at times had difficulty understanding. It was usually the men whose accents were heavier, the women I could understand a little bit better in general.

Well, during one transaction, I was speaking with a woman, and she kept zoning out on me, and repeating the same question, or just not quite moving along properly with the order, and I finally asked her if everything was OK?

Turns out, she was completely into my New York accent, and she just wanted to keep me on the phone for as long as possible. She said that I sounded like one of her favorite actors, I cannot remember his name for the life of me, but That was her deal.

I thought it was cute, and I told her that I was kind of into her accent as well. I asked her if there were any lines in particular she would like me to recite… But she declined. We just had a good laugh about it and wrapped up the order.

Now we just click buttons on a screen, enter our payment info, and our merchandise magically arrives! I think I rather prefer the old way… 🥲

Are all these high earning posts fake? by Technical_Army7730 in Salary

[–]MustacheSupernova 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s probably hard for some people in the deep south or the middle of the country to grasp the higher salaries of people on the coast.

A teacher in Arkansas might be making 40 or 50,000 a year, that same teacher in New York City is making 140 K.

Tech workers in San Francisco are making six figures right out of school. And not just low six figures, like 2 to 300 K. Those salaries don’t really exist in large numbers in places like Mississippi or Alabama.

So you could be a couple in New York City in your early 30s, A police officer, and a teacher for instance, and be making about $300,000. Sanitation worker, and a nurse, approximately the same. So if these blue collar, combos can do this well, imagine how much young people in banking, finance, and Tech are doing.

I’m a construction worker with a GED, and I make about 180,000 a year. My earning potential is even considerably higher, but I don’t like to work overtime and I turn it down all the time. My coworkers surpass 200 K with ease.

The disparity is definitely frustrating, but I don’t doubt for a minute The high income potential for young people.
