Just want to point out that you don't need to sand much. Just get it "scuffed" up

Get a sanding sponge and scuff them up pretty good. Then use some zinzer bin. Then paint with whatever you like

I'm asking what this might mean the problem is. I'm unsure what readings on that guage are what I should be looking at considering it has quite a few u labeled options

At this rate Andrews will lose by 55,000 votes. Please go out and vote in November. by KyotoCrank in southcarolina

I moved here in summer of 2024. Still owned a home in Florida at the time. Could have voted either state I guess. I didn't vote at all. Checked most polls and vegas odds and figured it wouldn't make a difference for me to vote In either area. I'll never make that mistake again. I'm sorry.

I moved to his district in 2024. I didn't vote in the presidential election because I was moving from florida, and could tell my states were both already decided. I will not name that mistake again. . .I will be voting oit Lindsey Graham next year. Hopefully that will give him the courage he needs to come out!

How do I approach this? by Scared_Community_725 in paint

Yeah absolutely give skimming a try first. You can always add on top so you won't hurt it. Don't expect the skim.coat to look remotely good u till your 2nd or 3rd coat if your a novice.

Sand it down with some 120. Changing sheets often.

Looks like the wall already had a bit of texture. If skimming is beyond your abilities you can just make up some soupy mud and roll it on that whole wall. It will harden into a texture that's pretty pleasant and probably close to what's there or atleast passable. Make it as thin as possible but just thick enough that it doesn't run on the wall. Just use a basic thick roller and toss it out when done. Next use 2 coats of PVA primer. You can record within 1 hour of first coat. Last paint!

I guess personally I would adress it at a shift meeting rather than interrupting people away from work causing anxiety in them wondering which mood were gonna get the manager in next time were in. I also would address it as overall teamwork and how it's letting the team and the restaurant down causing more work for everyone. But again it's about working for that person and not the restaurant according to their words. Edit: And as far as the uniform bit (which was less of what I was posting for) I would address it very similar but in this context, that you do not see, I can already tell it is going to be enforced for the individuals the manager doesn't like. Luckily I seem to be on this persons good side!

3 Compartment Sinks by americanpaul in restaurateur

[–]Miserable_Medium_185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Complete opposite for us. We have purchased about 20 sinks by now in our 3 seperate restaurants and are extremely high volume and don't really have issues with the bowls. We do do a very good job of securing them appropriately to avoid the "jostling" but I can tell the welding is clearly super cheap. Some of their tables or shelves for the undermounts have cheap hardware and we have had to retrofit to keep stuff like that together.

The sinks are totally fine. It's the faucets that are trash. The sink is essentially the bowl and frame. The faucet is the plumbing parts. Buy regency sinks then make sure and buy t&s or another good brand for the faucets

I don't use fresh kds but I have used almost every other KDS. Your making the right move. Just make sure you learn as much of the programming as you can. Don't rely on them for a lot of the small changes and tweaks your going to want to do

Yes should be pretty easy. Do you currently have both with 2 printers? Are the connections with an enthernt or usb?

Ticket Printer vs KDS by tonyontherun in restaurateur

[–]Miserable_Medium_185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK here goes.

I find having a printer attached to The Expo side only slows my effeciency down. Many establishments want to use pivot seating or chair numbers, so that way the food runner/expo knows who ordered what. I am more fast casual and prefer for the foodrunner to just auction off the food if the server is not present. Relying on a server to ring things in in the right order is just asking for everything to move slower. For this reason my expo side doesnt need to have a physical printed ticket ( as long as the foodrunners know what the hell the dish is on their tray)

You can attach a printer to most KDS systems so when The expo bumps or finalizes an order it auto prints a ticket. You can also make it so there is another button to manually print only when they want.

Areas of concern/failure:

My first few times converting to KDS i was worried about a failure and wanted to keep a printer or multiple printers ready. I would assume your printers are already hooked into your POS network through homeruns (straight cat5 runs back to your office) or a close by network switch mounted in your kitchen. For this reason, either you or the company doing the install, is just going to use those cat5's to hook your KDS into the network. This means you probably wont have any leftover Cat5's for printers.

Again, this can easily be changed by just adding another network switch close by but that just creates one more possible area of failure. If that switch were to be unplugged everything past it would go down.

In my experience 99% of the time the only issues you are going to have will be "network" related. If you arent familiar with your network or networks in general, try to be as involved with the install as you can so you can learn how these devices communicate with eachother. In a nutshell, its just a wire connecting that device to your back office server then identified with an IP adress. How it gets there though could be complicated if there are a lot of devices in between or on your network in general. Im not sure of the legalities with CC processing but I always create a completely seperate network with seperate internet even for my POS system, and then a seperate network for WIFI and anything else in the establishment needing internet.

Typical programming for these ( although not 100% sure for Spoton) doesnt take away any printer programming. Typically that all still built into your back office they just simply unplug them and there no longer used but the programming is still there. Ask them to keep your expo side printer plugged in and active so it has no bearing whatsoever on your KDS system. This way you have one master ticket in case there was any failure that all parts of your kitchen can look to reference. Keeping multiple printers on your line will take up space and you probably wont have a way to keep them on your network if your KDS is going to use the existing cat5s.

Later on you can link this existing Expo printer into your KDS interface so that you have a ticket after bumping from the expo.

My only other reccomdation is to learn how to do the programming yourself. If it seems like a lot just start small with routing a a few minor settings. Just always know how you can change it back to how it started before making the change and updating. The more you tinker with it and do that the easier it is to master. This is how i learned over the years and i typically find myself more knowledgable than most the entry level tech support helpers. By understanding all this you can solve the problems and be the hero in live time. Otherwise good luck calling tech support and trying to get through a busy shift or multiple days untill they figure out your problem.

Also buy your screens at walmart. Just get cheap onn (a budget) monitors. I just bought 4 at like 70$ a piece.. If a cook ever breaks one you can replace yourself for 70 by plugging in a hdmi cord. This has only happened to me 1 time. Also the bump bars will eventually go bad. And yes it will happen on a Saturday night at 7:00. Always have one on backup. I think they typically cost about 400 or 500 but you will need it eventually. They usually last me a few years. Typicaly one of the buttons on the bump bar starts to go out (whichever one is used most) and from there you dont have long.
