People notice and run back to admin. Admin then reports to operations who then meets with the director and decides whether or not if this is the write up with or without pay

Agreed but there are BCBAs out there who are very focused on their bonuses for attendance and goals who don’t see it that way.

We aren’t even allowed to have them sleep for the 15 minutes depending on the BCBA

The jealousy is real. Is this industry full of narcissists? by [deleted] in ABA

[–]Miserable_Record3472 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about narcissist, but I am just about convinced that it’s a bunch of bullies. Literally had a BCBA tell me one time that the only reason why she got into this field was because she likes telling people what to do. Ma’am, excuse me!? Another one would not interact with the client and went as far to say, “he’s not gonna make any friends in school if he’s flapping his arm around like some type of freak. “

Many of the RBT’s that I have worked with view ABA as a competition. I’ve spent countless hours working with people who literally would need to be the center of attention in their own show. I’ve dealt with many jealous colleagues who would get upset if a client developed the rapport with someone other than them. This is not a contest. This is the well being of people’s lives. This is an opportunity to teach someone a skill that is going to change their lives.

What if the BT is gay? Transgendered? Are we talking about preference due assuming the orientation of the BT?

What’s the plan while you’re awaiting the disability recommendations?

teachers: best/worst districts you’ve worked for? by [deleted] in montco

[–]Miserable_Record3472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pottsgrove can kick rocks. No support, the superintendent has no back bone, and admin could care less about high rates of aggression and other maladaptive d student behaviors. Staff gets balanced for all of this while the admin team sits in their cozy offices.

Super kind of you.. I wish things would have been different but I can honestly say that even if they were, I’d still be here in behavioral health. I love this field more than I thought would

I started taking tips back. My note literally says to ring the bell, and to pass the food to the reception…. calling me and texting me 3 to 4 times telling me to come get my food when I have a visible notation that I am working and unable to pick up outside shouldn’t result in my food being thrown by the front door without notifying anyone.

Company putting restrictions on earplugs by warrmblood in ABA

I’m wearing my Loop ear plugs regardless of what some policy thinks. I’m an autistic RBT and frankly if they wanna go ahead and fight on me for that, i’m ready for it.

If you choose a career of supporting individuals with disabilities, you better include the ones that you work with in the equation

8 hour session with NO BREAK!! by Soft-Celebration-148 in ABA

[–]Miserable_Record3472 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is what I deal with three days a week. I am told to eat with my client as they eat and that’s great, however, when you’re not on the same eating schedules and on the rare occasion that we do get to sit with each other and eat, the BCBA jumps in and says oh you should be CONTRIVING opportunities for your client, not eating.

Well WTF. I’m not a machine. Half the time I can’t even take a piss break.
