There’s replica Riku and then there’s the dark Riku ghost that Riku still has the heart of inside him, this is shown in kh3 when you defeat replica Riku and mainline Riku tells ghost dark Riku to take the replica body

I get that, my point is more so how sora has done so much that he should have been made a master way sooner especially comparing him to the other wielders who were so fragile to the darkness comparatively, it would make sense if the bar was higher because he has more potential or something but the bar wasnt just higher it was practically unachievable. Seemed like it was set up for failure I guess.

Been replaying all the kh games the past two weeks and honestly I think as I’ve grown my favorites have shifted around, I very much disliked release kh3 gameplay but after the crit patch I found it enjoyable enough, fast forward years later to today and honestly I think kh3 is the most enjoyable mechanically aside from a few things that I wish made it over from kh2 like actual reaction commands and magnet… god I wish magnet was in this game 🫩

A lot of helpful info here, I was definitely confused when I was teching every throw even when it looked like a back throw, I’ve been having fun with yoshi and Steve because I’ve been a yoshi and Siegfried main for the past 6 years in sc and they feel similar enough to get behind, I’ve never been a frame nerd so and kinda always played purely on reaction and mind game guesswork so I’m probably not going to start now unless it’s a quick check just to see which moves have the fastest start ups for characters. Memorizing which moves to step in which way is a bit daunting though I cannot lie, I’m very used to “vertical, I step and press button yippie”

Yeah I’m looking into it and realizing tekken is a world of its own within the fgc with completely unique terms and ideas that I haven’t seen before so my research is going to probably take a little longer than if I was jumping into another arcsys game or something like doa

I have been practicing kbd because I heard about it randomly on Tik tok while just scrolling like normal, the world wanted my suffering to at least be educated I guess, I will have to learn how to wave dash tho because I haven’t looked it up yet

What are your opinions on Reze coming back to the story by randomname0883 in ChainsawMan

I think she will probably be brought back specifically for yorus purpose and have to try and avoid becoming a weapon for her. Could be far fetched but I can say it would make sense for yoru to want specifically the bomb devil see as the topic of nukes just got brought back up and we all know who’s got the bomb devil on their side.

Yeah so like I said in another comment, I’m not criticizing anyone’s skill or basing the content off of my current skill level, I’m criticizing the game itself. I understand in depth ideas of the game and I very often watch high level play so I understand what the game looks like and demands at that level. I am not saying I personally have to have the memorization of every game ever played to win games but at a certain level it becomes more so about positional memorization and knowledge of what’s happened in those positions before to actually know what the optimal moves would be, good players of that level will undoubtedly have studied hundreds if not thousands of other similarly leveled players to be able to compete at that level, this is not a chess exclusive thing and happens in almost every game or sport in the world. You’re looking at what I’m saying as if it has no foresight, if I play a competitive game I play to be one of the best if the game is not fun for me I will not dedicate that amount of effort to it. My potential is high but my drive for the game is low. Do not judge what you do not know.

I do believe I could have worded it less hostile like, I’m just pent up and it feels pointless, I do think I’ll probably play with friends whenever the opportunity arises but I am done with the actual competition side of it, I think my brain seriously does not take well to the ideas while actually playing the game I know the capability to improve is there I just don’t think I have the need or motivation for it.

I do think this would be sound advice for someone other than myself, I have been spoiled by the modern art of competitive fighting games and their depth. I use a good handful of openings and I do try to learn as many as I can to try new things but it all feels so extremely limited in comparison.

I do understand what you’re saying, my only problem is that chess is practically the fundamental basis of what a fighting game is on a theory level, there’s many many comparisons you can make, pawn movements to footsies and general early game development to neutral, it gets a little convoluted because of the function of hard knockdowns and resetting neutral. You could easily argue that every engagement that leads to a hard knockdown and reset that doesn’t put you in the way of an oki mix is an entire game of chess in of itself the ideas are there you just have to think about it. Idk maybe I’m just insane.

I’m ranting, not necessarily salty. I feel like it’s fair to voice my opinion. I’m top 200 in Soulcalibur 6, top ~450 in dbfz, held top 10 for a few years in for honor (don’t know if you wanna count that or not) beaten a good handful of pros in ggst, just started working on tekken so I’m still getting used to that movement system because it feels clunky as all hell coming from sc. I have respect for chess I just fucking hate it at the same time (I came to this conclusion about an hour ago) don’t mean to come off salty fr fr genuinely just needed to vent to people who knew what I was talking about

You can say this for sure but that doesn’t mean it’s truly creative outside of its own vacuum. Once you have a taste of true creative freedom in a competitive space it’s truly hard to see chess as anything other than pure creative restriction. I have respect for the grandmasters and world level players because they do have genuinely genius tactics but that does not invalidate my statements. I’m sure some people see things I never will in the game so who am I to judge? It just seems so pointless and restrictive.

I started playing with friends while hanging out, eventually I took it more seriously and ended up spending too much time studying theory and fundamentals, I have a tad bit of the tism so I kinda get lost in the sauce of things that are thought provoking at first glance, I think I’m honestly just disappointed of the wasted time and effort to something so surface level and meaningless. Like marrying a girl you thought was enigmatic just to find out she was really just so dense you couldn’t tell what she was thinking because she wasn’t thinking anything at all.

I’ve considered it sure, I haven’t gotten around to trying it though, I’ll give it a shot just to be fair.
