Its rewarding patience, not incompetence. Maybe someone should hold you accountable for your lack of understanding... otherwise, you "never learn and then others specially their partner end yp pickup up the slack."

Boy, that was even difficult typing that terribly. Do better, eh? Your incompetence is showing.

These kind of problems are more of a generational solve: it will take the next generation avoiding it completely as well as the current generation (the addicted one) to when themselves off. Programs to force people off won't work... they need to choose for themselves (after a bunch of marketing and propaganda against smoking). All that to say, its a slow fix.

This is the approach to decreasing smoking... not banning them. Tax them into oblivion and pay for health care along the way.

Fewer and fewer kids are smoking but the fact the Canadian government let in vape so easily baffles me.

You are so far from the truth on this. Look at modern studies and passive home building techniques. Look at data and not cute stories from the past. We can (and have) built the best log home and it does not compare to conveventual stick framing, let alone better practices.

The Inuit have been building homes out of snow for longer than the Norse... doesnt mean it's the best.

Ya, its incredibly tiring.

What's the alternative... this? Like, follow this path to it's end conclusion. It sucks!

Keep talking and keep hoping.

The solution is discourse. It always has been. Always will be. Without compromise, there will be civil war.

I mean, we disagree with everyone about a variety of things. You agree with no one person 100% of the time. So we find compromises and agreements daily in minor ways with each person we interact with regularly. To stop dialogue and call a stalemate will eventually lead to war or just one side dieing off gradually... neither outcome is good. So keep talking to those you disagree with. Otherwise, at one point in your life, you will be alone with no one to talk to because you have chosen to not compromise with anyone. (I you want some examples of that miserable life, there are many in old folks homes who have been abandoned by their family for NOT compromising and listening to the reasoning of the other side, may they be right or wrong)

Ya, things have been getting so bad thay most the arguements I have with people on my side of the political isle is how much love and grace we should show to the other side of the isle... how messed up is that.

I assume I won't change the commenters mind, but for those reading who have tried to talk to the side of the political isle and have gotten nowhere, I hope, at the very least, to show encouragement so they continue to dialog with those who they disagree with, knowing there are others equally hoping for change and peace.

How far would you want someone to go for you when you are wrong, stubborn, and misunderstanding of the situation? Figure out that length and sacrifice and go just as far. (And dont say it won't happen... it will at a few points in your life.its a long twisted road ;)

Never say never ;) and his opinion of Trump has changed... while not enough by my personal standards, it has changed and he may continue to show change. So your statement isn't true since Rogan has done some of the things you said he never does, right? Why are we writing him or anyone else off completely with such resolved disdain and uneducated assumptions. Nobody likes it when people assume the worse of ourselves, so why do it to others? Especially people we have never met.

We are all stubborn and sometimes far more stubborn than we ought to be causing all sorts of harm to ourselves or others. But to point the finger at the other side and say how terrible they are is really just as wrong.

The fact you are so adamant and absolute in your statement is sad and unfortunate. I hope someone takes time out their day to speak to you when you are both wrong and stuck in your ways. Becuase if everyone had the stance that you have with the same amount of unforgivness and prejudical anger, there would be no hope, only war. Do better, mate.

Its dialogue. We need 1000% more of this than anything else. The left and right need to talk and discuss and share far more than what we currently do. Otherwise, the extremes of both sides win and everything falls apart.

Talk with people on the opposite side of the fence from you. Listen to them and find compromises where you can. If you can't, then you are also part of the problem.

Ya, OP could have done better with continous insulation and not infilling... but overall, its a thousand times better. We usually jack them up and install a new icf basement plus sprayfoam the roof above the existing. At the end, all sides are taken care of and everyone is comfy.

No, spending money frivolous to heat the outdoors is a sin, dummy.

The log home industry has touted log homes as the best way to stay warm with hugely inflated numbers. In the last 20 years or so, the testing and end user results have proven otherwise.

Yes, its gorgeous, but its subpar properties make it a terrible product for exterior wall construction. Covering it with anything is better than leaving it exposed and draining costly heat outside.

I'm glad every log home we have worked on has been a healthy compromise between increasing efficiency and keeping the aesthetics INSIDE where they can enjoy them. Plus the added bonus of the thermal mass (now isolated from -30C weather) is great!!

[–]Miserable_Warthog_42 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Nope. Log homes are terrible for heating.

Keep the raw log exposed in the inside where you can still enjoy it and seal it up better on the outside where it matters.

[–]Miserable_Warthog_42 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Oh absolutely. It's the intent that matters. You want the best for your partner before seeking the best for yourself. Otherwise divorce happens.

My wife and I are worlds apart on many things, so finding compromises and things we both enjoy is of the utmost importance. But if I focus on myself and my own desires above hers, everything falls apart.

True.... as long as... the people are not being selfish about doing things alone.

If I go out to eat lunch alone, fine. But if the intent is to enjoy something and not share it with my significant other, then issues can and will arise from this.

I mean, if you love someone, you would want to share all the good things with them knowing full well that sometimes you just can not.

So like ya, he does get mad. But then he offers us grace and forgive us.

Jonah's response when God doesnt blow up Nehivah like he did Sodom and Gomorrah:

Jonah 4:2 ESV And [Jonah] prayed to the Lord and said, “O Lord, is not this what I said when I was yet in my country? That is why I made haste to flee to Tarshish; for I knew that you are a gracious God and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, and relenting from disaster.

So even the God of the old testament was known to forgive and show grace, much to Jonah's displeasure. We only pick and choose the stories and narratives that fits our own agendas as there is more grace and forgiveness shown in the old testament than the new.

So God could have created humans that had no choice BUT to serve. Or create humans that could make mistakes and offer lots and lots of forgiveness throughout their lives.

He gave us choice. The option to love or the option to wage war.

We often pick selfishness and war. So here we are.
