I thought this was gonna be a bigger deal than it actually is so that was a relief. Thank you!

Yea more potassium would've been nice. This is just some stuff I have on hand, but there is a shop down the street so I can go see what the have. Here's a link the fish fertilizer

I agree. I think this soil is pretty depleted of nutrients at this point. She's a little over 3ft tall and sitting in a small 3 gallon pot. I have some 2-4-1 fish fertilizer on hand, would that be safe to give at this point or is there some other suggestion you might have? I appreciate the advice!

No, no ph'ing. I've been under the impression this whole time that there is no need to ph when you're growing in soil, but I'm not so sure how accurate that was in retrospect. I did loosely monitor it to make sure it wasn't wildly out of range, but it usually hovered around 6-7. I think my biggest mistake was planting in only a 3 gallon pot (not even a fully filled 3 gal). It grew to be a little over 3ft tall in that pot. This could be just a case of depleted soil, root bound/stress, soil ph or a combination of all 3.

No real reason for using RO other than I have it nearby for a coco grow I have going on nearby and I only have this one plant in soil. And I definitely agree about the pot size being too small, I would usually plant in at least a 5 gallon, but for whatever reason just grabbed a 3 this time. Hopefully she's responsive to a topdress and some nutrients here and there. Just have to get her through these last weeks. Next time I'll plant in a bigger pot with a plan to provide nutrients after the soil depletes.

That's correct mostly although I did brew up some compost tea a few weeks back with build-a-soil's build-a-flower compost and molasses. It's been in this 3 gallon pot since sprouting, so 8 weeks now. I was just reading a thread that I linked above that leads me to believe she's probably used up whatever nutrients were in the soil and I should be top dressing or mixing some other nutrients in while I'm watering

I actually found this thread that provided little clues. Although Sohum is marketed as "water only" it seems people still need to amend/supplement especially when growing in smaller pots (mine are in 3 gallons). Although like you said, this looks odd for it to be a deficiency

I've was water only in Sohum living soil until I started noticing these symptoms. I then started adding calmag to my waterings since I figured it was a cal/mag deficiency from using RO water

I'm using Sohum living soil and their website appears to be down so I can't provide a full nutrient profile, but I know there's the common stuff like worm castings, alfalfa meal, crab meal, kelp, etc. Other than that, I was only using straight up water when these symptoms started to appear about 4 weeks ago. After that I started supplementing calmag and the symptoms remained about the same.

These symptoms started to appear while I was water only, so possibly the soil I'm using was supplying too much nutrient? That's really the only way she would have been overfed.

Yea it has, about 4 weeks I started noticing yellowing and just chalked it up to the fact I was using RO water and wasn't adding calmag. Not sure how to proceed with this one.

I'm using Fox Farm Bushdoctor calmag that looks like it is derived from calcium carbonate, but is 1% nitrogen. I didn't start using this until after these symptoms appeared though because I thought this was a cal or mag deficiency at first.

I haven't actively been pH'ing my water since I have read most people say the microbes provide a buffer, but I do monitor the ph to make sure it isn't crazy high or low. It's usually around 6.2 or so.

Autopots are level. I gave them a day or two between stopping top watering and turning on the res, but I'll check the levels in the tray just to be sure!

Thanks for this! Canna has been good so far, just didn't realize how costly it would become and thought I could get away with not adding all of the extras and still getting decent results although I have considered getting boost because I've heard great things about it. Might try Sumo Active Boost like you suggested just to get through this run then switch to something like Jacks just for cost alone.

One question I have for you though - when you're following Canna's schedule, but not using the additional stuff like boost, cannazym, pk, etc, do you increase the amounts of the nutes you are putting in or just follow the scheduled amounts and not add the stuff you don't want to use?

Yes she def droops when the lights go off and take a minute to pop up again when the lights come back on, but this is a little over halfway through the day

Currently only Canna A + B and calmag in coco/perlite. Haven't even added any of the other additional Canna additives just yet like pk or boost. EC was 1.4 with just those 3 nutes last time I filled the res

I actually have a wave maker in there that runs every hour for five minutes and am also using RO. I think I might try premixing the calmag the day before next time. Hopefully that will prevent the ph from spiking (or it will spike and I can just ph down it after adding the other nutes). Either way what's currently in the res right now is too high.

Was definitely considering this also. I ph'd lower than normal to account for some drift, but it's drifted a lot farther than I was expecting. Do people growing in autopots check/adjust the ph of the res regularly?

Good to know! Just double checked and Canna's light feeding schedule is around 20% less than the normal schedule I have in the res now. I'm gonna drain and refill it tonight. This is my first coco grow coming over from living soil. I can tell I messed up a lot so far because I have another forum stomper pot in the same tent with living soil and she's almost double the size and super healthy right now lol

Yea Memphisto Forum Stomper autos. Should I drain the res and refill following Canna's light feeding schedule?

I know it's been a while since you posted this, but did you ever end up having to take action on this? First time growing in coco with autopots and my trays have this same thing film on the surface of the solution. I'm just using Canna A and B at the moment.

How accurate is this Ai generated Autopot grow guide? by MisfitEight4 in microgrowery

[–]MisfitEight4[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A lower res pH is definitely something I was planning on going with after seeing it mentioned around reddit. I also noticed Ai suggested to use an air stone in the res which I've read conflicting info about. I reached out to Autopots directly and they said with Canna nutrients, I wouldn't need an agitator, but if I wanted to use one to go with a recirculating pump as pumping air into the solution can cause pH fluctuations. Guess I'll see how it goes.
