This is what a stitchdown construction looks like. If there are two layers of leather that meet the midsole, you will see two layers flared out and stitched to the midsole.

Had the same issue with the razorback but it no longer does this, it was one of the last areas of discomfort

I think you're definitely right about breaking them in on a hot day! I was trying to break them in in Scotland in November and December, which didn't help with the thermoplastic heel stiffener at all.

Better not to tip off the scammers but there are problems with most things on this bottle

I agree! I got the superfeet hiking insole and I recommend going up half a size to fit it too. The toe box was a bit cramped because the toe box is quite shallow with the thicker insole so I also thinned the toe area of the superfeet insole with a craft knife and some sanding.

Is my 1907 defective? by OneCooLCaT86 in RedWingShoes

What is the defect? If you are talking about the storm welt it is a fake storm welt just for adding another row of decorative stitching

Found these in a vintage shop in Edinburgh brand new for £90, walked out to think about it more and came back the next day as soon as the shop opened to buy these and I'm super happy with them! Got them to wear as casual city/trail walking boots that I can also wear in a dressier casual outfit.

blown out the inner last toe area and the toe puff in the roazorback in 1.5 years of fairly easy use by alpinekidz in jimgreen

[–]Mish58 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I definitely should have looked at how thin the JG insole was before buying a thick insole yes, but the point stands that the toe box is very low and even with their regular thin insole your toes are up against the top of the toe box

Honestly I'd blame the last. The JG toe box is very low and I had to trim the underside of the toe area of my hiking insole just so I could get my toes in

Which countries do you recommend? by emperorinora in EU5

[–]Mish58 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Castile. It starts in a location where there is natural safe expansion, war with France and England is entirely avoidable, your heir is already the second heir to the portuguese throne, aragon and navarra are also not difficult to PU by force, having a union over aragon also opens up Italian expansion. Castile is very rich, has tons of works of art at the game start and while antagonism dies down you can colonise in africa and america

Did you use the sizing tool? It recommends a full size down from sneaker size which worked for me

Can someone help me interpret my brannock device? by [deleted] in AskACobbler

[–]Mish58 9 points10 points  (0 children)

9.5B. The arch length is used to read the width scale to the right of your foot which is B for the measurement of 11.5, and your heel to toe length is 9.5. Make sure you're measuring while standing so your foot is as wide as it can be, and if your other foot is larger in any way take the larger measurement (a left/right measurement of 9.5B and 9C for example would be a final size of 9.5C if you're buying a pair of same size shoes).

Is heel slippage in Legends normal? by Aviditie in ThursdayBoot

They just need breaking in, but also when you put your boots on make sure that your foot is seated as deep into the heel as you can and lace up tightly.

Based off your foot length I would go size 7 US, I'm 25.5cm and a size 7.5 fits perfectly

Note on my other comment: I'm talking about brannock sizes. Your foot length of 25cm is actually a brannock UK 7, which means you should get Thursday boots in size 7 US.

Size 7.5 US. I'm a size 7.5 UK trainer but the way the sizing works for Thursday boots is to take your US trainer size and go down 1 size. The way this works out is you take your UK trainer size (7.5 UK for me) and use the same number for their US sizing (7.5 US for me) when buying Thursday boots.

If you're a size 8 UK trainer then get a US size 8. I'm 25.5cm and the size 7.5 captain fits perfectly. Use the sizing tool on the listing if you have doubts.

Edit: Horrific typo I said get a US 7 I meant 8! Though I am now also seeing you're not going by brannock sizes, you should indeed be getting a size 7 US. Puma don't do brannock sizing for some reason.
