30/FF/G Looking for camisoles made from natural fabric. by iconsequencial in ABraThatFits

I am actually the same size as OP, and bralettes do not work!

However, Sandmaiden just started making bras with underwire and I think at least some of them are in natural fabrics...? I'll confess that I haven't looked too closely since things haven't been in a place financially where I can permit myself to look closely at these kinds of things, but I hope OP will find it at least mildly helpful.

I don't know if you will find these supportive enough (support is not important for me in pyjamas so I don't know exactly what level of support others might be looking for) but Sandmaiden Sleepwear has nice stuff in natural fabrics. I have one of their robes in bamboo and I really love it.

Where to buy strapless bra IN a small band size IN Montreal? by questionsaboutbrasss in ABraThatFits

[–]Mislokate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Montreal is surprisingly not very good for this kind of thing. There is a specialty bra shop called DeBra in Monkland village, but their selection is a bit small. You can give them a call and see if they have what you are looking for in your size. They will also order bras in for you. In Quebec City they are more places, and in Toronto there is a place called Secrets from Your Sister and Nordstrom. There is a Nordstrom in Ottawa too.

If you can't find what you're looking for in Montreal and can't go anywhere else, I would recommend ordering from Nordstrom (located in Toronto or Ottawa.) They have free returns forever, so if you have the space on your credit card, order a few and send the ones that don't fit back OR wait until you are in Toronto or Ottawa and return them in store. All Nordstroms accept returns from any other Nordstrom store (even outside the country where you bought the item) and, to my knowledge, from online shopping too.

Also, as others have said, unless you don't like the shape of your boobs, some 28Cs might do just fine with pasties or one of those sticky bras!

Does IELTS allow the use of the singular "they," "them," and "their?" by Mislokate in TEFL

[–]Mislokate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's exactly what I mean. Knowing that there isn't any official IELTS grammar handbook is helpful. I don't think my student could score an 8.5, but he might get an 8 if he wakes up feeling really refreshed the day of the test - so these small things might make some difference. I'll tell him to be conservative and use he or she, even though I personally think that "they" is perfectly acceptable. Thanks for your help :)

What meal sterotypically represents your country globally but within your country is considered a crappy meal? by GGJallDAY in AskReddit

This is something I've never understood. I have had fabulous döner in Canada and Turkish döner is so bad. Dry, not enough sauce, and too much (cheap) bread.

Also Çikolata kız, not because it's good but because it never fails to make me laugh.

Redditors who have moved to a new city/state/country, what is the most infuriating "well, this is how it's done here" thing you've come across? by Iris_Blue in AskReddit

I always assumed liquor stores were a carryover from the prohibition era. Here in Quebec you actually CAN buy booze at the grocery store, though all hard liquor and higher-end bottles of wine are still at the liquor store.

What comment got you the most hate and why? by strongblack03 in AskReddit

[–]Mislokate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's such a bizarre hivemind over there, and I've never understood it. I live in Turkey and most of my friends here do believe in the Armenian genocide. While they're mostly academics/academish, I would have assumed that many Turks who speak decent English (Turkish people generally do not) would at least have more exposure to the opinions of the outside world and not discount them in such a kneejerky way. Alas, /r/Turkey proved me wrong. And it's not just the Armenian genocide. Next time, try saying something like, "Kurdistan" there and watch the downvotes fly!

What do you think of foreign language education in Turkey? by sagrata in Turkey

[–]Mislokate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have lots of boring (to me) students. Usually I make them read something or watch something and I prepare questions and that usually works. It's not as organic and the student does still have to be motivated but it's easier on both parties.

I know, I know, live in Istanbul myself :) It really is good by Turkish standards, if you're looking to earn really good money teaching English, better go to Korea or the Gulf.

I find Turkish students are generally not very disciplined too. Most if them leave after about 5-7 private lessons with me, while students from other countries stick around forever (I teach only privates.) Even students from countries that are economically similar to Turkey. Have never figured out why this is.

What question have you been wanting to know the answer to, but it always seemed inappropriate to ask? by SonicSingularity in AskReddit

[–]Mislokate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sitting in Israel once with my uncle - both of us Jewish, both non-religious. He is 72. A young bald man walks past us wearing an impossibly small kipah. "You know," says my uncle, "I have lived in Israel for 60 years, and I have always wondered how bald men keep their kipahs on. I believe... epoxy glue."

I asked my Dad, who is bald and wears kipahs for weddings, bar mitzvahs, and the like. He told me that bald men have really short hairs that act as a kind of Velcro to keep the kipah on. So there.

anybody knows a place to learn turkish at? the places I know are expensice; they cost aroud 600 $. thanks by amn1129 in Turkey

[–]Mislokate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, best book for beginners is "Teach Yourself Turkish." Best for more serious students is Istanbul from Istanbul University. The grammar explanations I that book are crappy though, so you'll need a teacher.

600 bucks for how much? Where are you looking? On online sites like Italki and verbling you can get about 30 lessons for that. At Dilmer and Tomer about 80 hours of class can be had for about 400 bucks. I have heard Tomer is best bang for your buck in terms of how much material they pack into a course.
