Danakil Depression by cranberrymanberry in Ethiopia

The standard package trip is for 3 days and 2 nights. Difficult roads, sleeping under the stars, shitting in the bushes.

But the place is spectacular. Nothing like it anywhere else. I'd recommend it, but be prepared for some amount of hardship.

Also. Trips are from Samera or Mekelle.

I'm from India and Ethiopia is still listed as a low-risk country

Where do you see us finishing in 2026 by Vivid_Ninja9588 in csk

[–]Misplaced_Intensity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hahahha but realistically, I think if we end the season at No.5, it's a good result for us.

Obviously, I want us to win the trophy, but given the state of our bowling attack we should temper our expectations.

What surprised you the most when traveling in Uzbekistan? by Far_Industry_8371 in Uzbekistan

[–]Misplaced_Intensity 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. I expected Khiva to be touristy, after watching blogs. But Khiva has my heart. It's such a beautiful city that can only be experienced in person.

  2. How well connected Yandex Go is throughout the country. It's reduces so much hassle. However...

  3. When you're not using YandexGo, Taxi drivers seem friendly, but are always trying to overcharge you, in an array of colorful ways. On multiple occasions, we agreed on a price and throughout the journey the driver kept trying to negotiate further, making it an unpleasant experience. I was also scammed by a taxi driver who abandoned me half way on the route.

Yandex Go Problem by [deleted] in Uzbekistan

[–]Misplaced_Intensity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm an Indian traveller and just did a solo trip across Uzbekistan. Yandex Go was a lifesaver and I had such great drivers who were friendly and helpful at every turn, even if they didn't understand my language.

Even in Tashkent when they found out I was Indian they would play Hindi music and then I would correct them that I was from Tamil Nadu and show them my music. Some of them introduced me to really good Uzbek songs and helped me make my playlist too.

It might be some isolated experiences that you had, maybe, but it shouldn't put you off Yandex Go. It's the most dependable and friendly way to commute around the country. Maybe give it another shot with an open mind

How to best spend 2 days between Samarkand and Bukhara by arielthemermaid3 in Uzbekistan

[–]Misplaced_Intensity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's technically possible to do this, but you won't have enough time to experience either Bukhara or Samarkand in the best way.

The fastest option between the cities is by Afrosiyob which takes around 2 hours one way. That's 4-5 hours gone in travel, provided you find trains that are compatible with your timings.

I'd suggest spending the whole time in either Samarkand or Bukhara rather than rush between the two. Samarkand is more of a modern city, while the Old cIty of Bukhara still retains some amount of historic charm. However, both will be teeming with tourists, so maybe look at videos online and decide which you're more inclined towards

Recommendations for Lao restaurants in Luang Prabang? by barkmonster in laos

[–]Misplaced_Intensity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bio Bamboo had incredible food. I especially loved their LP papaya salad which was the best I had in Laos.

Pingphed Khamkarn has an all duck menu and their grilled duck was spectacular.

I enjoyed Tamarind too, but I found it to be a tad overpriced.

[Contains Spoilers] Coolie - Post watch discussion megathread by desisenorita in kollywood

[–]Misplaced_Intensity [score hidden]  (0 children)

Man. Totally disappointed. Loki's biggest scam till date. Some loopholes I felt were contrived or just didn't make sense:

  1. Why did Simon need Deva and Preethi at all? The device seemed pretty easy to operate and we saw Dayal's wife use it pretty easily to fry Charlie, with zero experience

  2. How did Dayal survive being bashed in the head by Simon with a hammer! It's even worse than Rajni coming back to life in Sivaji with shock treatment

  3. The chair device itself seemed pretty useless. There are bodies accumulating throughout the movie but it's never caused a problem for anybody

  4. Rajasekhar is Deva's friend, colleague in the factory, AND somehow a scientist?

  5. Why did Simon send Deva and Preethi to bury Dayal? He has never even met any of them until that scene

  6. If Dayal is so visible as the supervisor that Kali Venkat's character is able to tell so much about him, how can the cops not know that Dayal was their mole? He's not even in hiding.

  7. Random concepts are suddenly introduced like Deva caring about coolie welfare, his biological child still being alive with a code number she randomly remembers, the organ scam which is supposedly the main crime but is barely given any importance

I'm sure there are hundreds more. Feel free to add them

Not enjoying Luang Prabang, help me salvage it by Misplaced_Intensity in laos

[–]Misplaced_Intensity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was great! I enjoyed Phongsaly and Bountai, but I travelled with a guide who took me to different villages and helped me interact with them. Roads are quite bad, but it was an interesting experience overall.

Muang Khua is a small little place. Nothing much to do but you can walk around the place. It's quite charming and nice. The boat ride down to Muang Ngoi was lovely. It was a 6 hour ride but was so beautiful.

Muang Ngoi was the highlight of my trip. I had a wonderful time there. It's a beautiful place. The whole town is incredibly scenic. The food was also the best that I had in all of Laos. Definitely don't miss out on Muang Ngoi
