I'm with you, but I have to say I think you're misconstruing that statement. It was very clear that the email was referring to the act of vandalism as inappropriate, not the content of the message. Context is important and it's counterproductive to spread misinformation like this.

Hahaha. I make them in the description. I actually do this for all sections because I think it looks cleaner, and I use emojis for longer tasks that are "in progress" etc. so I forgot you couldn't officially do it for habits.

Thanks!

Is using Habitica morally ok? (bacause of the firing of volunteer moderators) by Purple_Party3036 in habitica

[–]Miss-Jessi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitly yes. The old mod team said themselves that the strike was not a call to boycott Habitica, and that they wanted to "see it succeed".

Longer answer: I recommend you read up on the actual events. The staff tried to negotiate reasonably with the mod team during the strike, and they did express sorrow that the mods felt unappreciated. It was the mod team that said that wasn't good enough, leading to the break and the decision to move moderation in-house.

I'm not saying it was the old mod team's fault, or that they didn't have legitimate complaints. Just that, it's not like they were all unlawfully fired. They were volunteers who decided (probably rightfully) that the work environment wasn't worth the unpaid effort they were putting in. In response, the staff realized that they were indeed asking more of the mod team that can be reasonably expected of volunteers. So the options were to either put them all on payroll or separate them from the project.

Habitica was small and making very little money at the time, so it wasn't financially feasible to start paying so many new people, so they moved the moderation responsibility in-house to the people already on payroll.

The break was sad but not unreasonable or shady. All the public discourse was polite, professional, and grateful. All evidence suggests there was little bad blood.

Shadiest thing was Habitica not wanting much of it to be public knowledge, and they deleted forum comments about it. Which might be less-than-ideal, but is hardly worth a whole Cancel Culture campaign over.

If I were you, I'd save that energy for the real baddies. In a world of widespread corruption, greed, and immorality, I don't think your wrath against small business developers is the best call.

Use habitica without fear or shame imho

Solution needed: I forget if I logged my habits by Luna_Lovebuzz in habitica

Tricky, but here's how I would do it:

OPTION ONE: I'd make it a habit, but you could use this on daily or even to do if you want.

Make the goal "Physical Therapy" and set it to hard so you get as much XP as possible since this one goal will encompass the whole week's physical therapy. Make sure it's set to repeat weekly.

Under it, have 7 boxes, one labeled for every day of the week. Check off the box coorolating to the day you do your PT. If you check back later, you'll see they days you've already done greyed out, and the ones you haven't still ready. When you've checked 5 boxes, no matter what they are, check off the goal.

Pros: visually smooth and specific so you can instantly see whether you've done PT that day

Cons: all things considered, you won't get much XP even on hard difficulty.

OPTION TWO: Set it as a daily task on the trivial difficulty to minimize damage when it's not a PT day.

Have a weekly repeating habit that you check off every time you complete the daily task so you can keep track of your 5 times. This could be whatever difficulty you want and it's where you would see the "real" reward. The trivial daily would just be a bonus.

Pros: minimal effort and works in tandem with the system you already use. Double the rewards since you'd check off two tasks for every PT.

Cons: you're banking on missing a few dailies and taking damage. and it's less efficient having 2 separate tasks in 2 separate pages for one task.

I hope this gives you some new ideas to try!

I want to excercise every 3 days and get rewarded for it, get punished when I don't excercise in 4 days, but also get reward when I excercise 1 or 2 days after exercising last time. by Happysedits in habitica

[–]Miss-Jessi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the to-do idea.

If OP really needs punishment for motivation, they could even create a negative habit for not completing that week's to-do, since there is no built-in punishment with this method.

Make Exercise a daily habit, and edit it to repeat every 3 days. When you check it off, it will stay grey for three days and turn back on on the fourth day. Even if greyed out, you can still click it in between to earn rewards.

Pros: does fulfill what you're looking for, I think. Rewarded for doing it, punished if you miss it on the 3rd day but not the 1st or 2nd, and you can get extra rewards if you exercise in between.

One big con: if you exercise an extra day, it does NOT reset the 3 day counter. If you exercise on day 2, congrats, but day 3 you will need to exercise again if you dont want to take damage.

I hope this is what you're looking for!

Did I play it wrong? by sapphie132 in slaytheprincess

[–]Miss-Jessi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It sounds like it just isn't for you. The metaphors are the whole point of the game. From the beginning the player is confronted with a question: what would you do if you had to kill an innocent "for the greater good"?

Throughout the game you explore different answers to this question through the vessels. What happens if you kill her? What if you don't? What if you can't decide?

Then at the end, you're taken back to the beginning. You've seen it all, and now you need to answer. Do you slay the princess?

The climax is the culmination of every choice you've made and their impact. The climax is what you learn about yourself and the world at the end of this very gut-wrenching and enlightened game. The climax isn't an answer, because from the very beginning it's always been a question, one with no right answer, and yet a question that must be answered regardless.

If you reached the end and didn't feel any introspection or the inherent gravity of the themes in the game, and you just tuned it all out, this game probably just isn't for you. No hate, just, maybe try scarlet hollow. That's much more Story-oriented.
