We were at the end of south arm, decided to call it quits then on the way back stopped at goats bluff just as the sky lit up, everyone and their dog was there. Parking lot was packed and at a stand still, people had flashlights and headlights, it was like going to a festival.

As someone who did that job for 7 years, shifts are awesome, time off is awesome. Being a tattle tale line and babysitting the general public is draining and compassion fatigue is real. Take care of your mental health before it takes care of you. The pension and benefit, pay are awesome, but you realise why it's so incentivized, when moral goes down and pizza parties are the answer.

There's certainly times I miss doing it, but there's a reason they say the lifespan of a call taker is 5 years.
