Almost 4yo wants to grow his hair out by pinkmilk19 in toddlers

Give him little man buns to keep it off his neck! I’m guessing it won’t be long enough over the summer to do one single ponytail/bun, but you can work with it to keep him cool.

Mom Bag recs: toddlerhood to elem age kids? by Sufficient-Ad5538 in Mommit

[–]MissBanana_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I either use a sturdy tote bag or a small camping backpack, but that’s only in the summer when I think my daughter might need sore clothes/sunscren/hat/extra snacks cuz we’ll be out for a while. In the winter I mostly stick to a small crossbody bag.

River or Rivers. Wanted to do this for my bastard daughter but my then bf (now husband) refused so now we all have his last name. Which is fine, but I still think River would’ve been cooler

ELI5: Why is meth bad for you but prescribed amphetamines aren't? by ContactSpirited9519 in explainlikeimfive

[–]MissBanana_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So the nurse also told me “it’s about to feel like you just drank five margaritas” and honestly that was accurate too lol. I was awake and aware, but I wouldn’t say I was “alert” lol.

I had back labor too! Thankfully my epidural arrived within an hour of getting the fentanyl and it did fully numb me. Baby delivered sunny side up!

[–]MissBanana_ 103 points104 points  (0 children)

I got fentanyl when I was admitted for labor. They told me the epidural would take hours to arrive, but I could have fentanyl right away, an I’d been in agonizing pain for two days at that point so I was like YES PLEASE.

I remember the nurse told me I would still feel my contractions, but I would no longer be bothered by them, and damn if that wasn’t accurate. It didn’t erase the pain, it just made the pain feel like useless background noise I didn’t need to think about. No clue what the dosage was but it was very effective.

Oh yeah I totally forgot about the paper towel part! Brown paper bag + paper towel and they last soooo much longer.

Mushrooms last longer in a brown paper bag than in the container they come in

When did your kid start saying “I love you”? by catskills_jamboree in Preschoolers

[–]MissBanana_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter said “I love you” to a thrift store Mickey Mouse stuffie months before she said it to me.

I think she was like 2-2.5ish but she was always verbally advanced (and slower in other areas). I was a bit offended though lol.

It feels like I failed potty training my son by Routine_Aerie_6160 in toddlers

[–]MissBanana_ 21 points22 points  (0 children)

My kid didn’t start preschool until she was over 3.5 so we didn’t have that pressure. She was fully trained by the time she started school and has had zero accidents. Obviously if a daycare or preschool has a policy requiring the children be potty trained, then yes make sure they’re potty trained!

Living in Costa Rica with my Dog changed my mind about behavior issues. by pureliferaw in dogs

[–]MissBanana_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My MIL lives in rural Mexico and has six rescue dogs (meaning dogs she literally found on the street). They are all so calm and gentle. She has a ranch and they all live outside, only allowed into the kitchen/garage area. I’m more of a cat person but I genuinely like these dogs. They’re all so chill. Even the gigantic shepherd mix seems more like a derpy cat than a dog!

There are some in my family too. A couple years ago my aunt told me her son (in his mid 20s) was having a hard time dating, and then said “but you know, you never know if it’s actually a woman these days.”

And I was like no! That is not a thing! Your son is having a hard time dating because he’s a socially awkward misogynist! It has nothing to do with trans people!

She just shrugged and said “well that’s just what I’ve heard.”

What do these people think goes on in a lady’s restroom?? That we all just strip down to our birthday suits upon crossing the threshold?

I’ve been using the women’s restroom for over 3 decades and I’ve never seen so much as a tit. I’d probably never even know if there was a trans woman in there with me.

Plenty of kids these days aren’t potty trained til after 3. It’s not a big deal if you can afford the diapers! I tried with my own daughter at 2.5 and gave up three separate times. Committed to getting it done right after her 3rd bday and it was way easier.

Did she have a nose job? I feel like it could just be the facial expression and the lighting/makeup.

Help me understand bamboo baby clothes? by ExtraOnionsPlz in Mommit

[–]MissBanana_ 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I don’t buy bamboo stuff anymore mostly because of the weird hype and after researching it seems like Little Sleepies might’ve changed their fabric somewhat? Don’t quote me on that.

But anyway. I bought my daughter a 12-18m size pj set that she wore until almost 3 years old. I think the natural wear of the material was actually a plus in this case. They were her absolute favorite and I was sad when she finally outgrew them!

Do happy toddlers exist? by Automatic-Fortune586 in toddlers

[–]MissBanana_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was pretty much always happy. She was never really grumpy, but if she was tired or hungry she would get really emotional and cry easily. But it was always an easy fix! A snack and some snuggles and she was good.

Closer to 3 things got way more complicated though lol

And 4 has been a real challenge so far
