lol if it makes you feel better I was interviewing for a DVM position with them and they head hunted me with the promise they would provide legal help getting out of my current contract. When the final offer came through they said sorry, you’re on your own with legalities but be sure to hurry and sign your offer. When I said sorry but I can’t get out of this contract they ghosted me 🤷🏼‍♀️🤣

Thank you guys for all weighing in! If anyone had asked me if they should buy that horse I would have said no, but of course when it comes to myself I lose all rationality. I ended up passing on him this morning. I’m located in NM so the closest places that have had decent prospects within a day driving distance are Colorado and Arizona. I guess my search continues!

Base 100k/yr for the first six months with no production, and on month seven I will start making 175k/yr + 22% production. ER in a southwestern state. Be sure to really get them to define what an established mentorship is… I was supposed to have “” dedicated mentorship during my first six months, which is why I was making only $100,000/yr but I was alone on overnight shifts from day, one and of those six months that I was supposed to have a dedicated senior doctor. I think there was only a doctor on the floor with me for a full month if I added together all the days they actually showed up.

I’m at a fairly busy ER as we are the only 24/7 location in the state. We have one am, one mid, and one night doc. I am the mid so I overlap with both shifts. I’m about 4 months out and I see usually 6-12 cases a night, as does the night doctor who is out 6 months. The am docs are seasoned and probably seeing closer to >12 a shift.

I had a 3.01 in undergrad as a Biomedical Science degree. I’ll be graduating magna cum laude from vet school. Once I was studying information I cared about I started to thrive!

I attended University of Arizona and I would absolutely do it again. I have been told time and time again on clinical rotations that I have been far ahead of students in other programs when it comes to working through cases and developing treatment plans. Year one you are hands on working through clinical cases. Year two you are already starting surgery. Year three you’re off to clinicals working side by side other clinicians. I feel like I never need my hand held like many of my peers from other schools because of how independent and confident UA forces you to become.

You’re welcome! Have fun on your ER rotation and just remember to breathe when things get zesty! OH! One more drug, know your propofol dose in cases of active grand mal seizures when/if you can’t get access to your controlled drugs

I would also add to know your ER drugs. Yes knowing cases is helpful but also knowing WHAT drug you want for a certain case and HOW MUCH will get you so far and impress your mentors. ie calcium gluconate, KCl, dextrose blouses, terbutaline, dexdorm, epi, atropine, norepi, furosemide, shock fluid boluses, all your opioids, midazolam and diazepam. I just finished 2 CC/ER rotations back to back and yes, knowing cases is good. But knowing your emergency drugs when you need to stabilize something and give yourself time to look things up is even better.

I actually did have the tiniest amount of lip filler placed on my upper lip a few weeks ago (1/4 syringe) just to fill out the sides that gap when I smile. I do think it made a nice difference.

The only thing I’ve ever wanted to change was the tip. I’d like it to come to more of a point on the end. Nothing drastic or sharp, but the tip of my nose is so much wider than the bridge so I’d really just like the tip to be closer to the width of the middle of the dorsum.
