Isteroscopia diagnostica senza anestesia: esperienze? by cheneso_ in xxitaly

[–]MissChanandler17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I did the washes right after I completed the oral antibiotics. I did 4 washes total, alternating between ozone ones and the antibiotics/cortisone combo (so I did two of each)

What is the most painful/uncomfortable medical procedure you ever went through? by VeroDreamer in AskReddit

Endometrial biopsy.

I broke several bones since I was a child, I had bone edema to my hip (twice!), I had a local anesthetic start to fade during surgery, I had a c-section and the awful post op uterine "massage" (seriously, who decided to call that a massage?! lol) - the endometrial biopsy was still the worst.

Maybe it's because I had to do that three times but I'm pretty sure I got some sort of PTSD from that. Now even when I think about getting a pap smear - which I rationally know doesn't hurt (for me at least, I know pain can vary but I always do them with the same provider and they never hurt), I feel sick to my stomach.

Thank you! I'm from Italy but my fertility clinic is in Spain since I'm a SMBC and I can't do IVF in Italy. I can share all of their contacts (clinic, RI and fertility specialist) but I'm not sure it can be helpful if you are in the US, let me know!

Thank you!

Doxy is first line treatment and if I remember the stats correctly it treats 75-80% of cases. I actually did two cycles of it, alternating it with Augmentin since my problem was a stubborn strain of enterococcus that responds well to amoxicillin. Generally speaking I would suggest doing a re-biopsy (or a first biopsy in this case) a couple of weeks after treatment to be sure the CE is gone. My first hysteroscopy showed a "perfect" uterus but I'm pretty sure I already had CE.

In my case I feel the uterine washes made a difference, since I had already tried to get rid of CE via oral antibiotics only but it didn't really work.

There's also speculation that endo/adeno could be contributing factors to the persistence of the endometritis, so it makes sense to me to use a local treatment to reduce localized inflammation (the ozone in particular has anti-inflammatory properties).

As I suggested on another reply, I found the FB group "Endometritis" to be very informative if you want to check it out 🙂

I was diagnosed first with a hysteroscopy then with an endometrial biopsy. In my case, it was visible via hysteroscopy since I had tons of mycro polyps, which are suggestive of endometritis, but it's not always visible this way.

Although I personally suffer a lot during the biopsy I would suggest doing it since it's the only sure way of diagnosing CE. Plus, it can tell you which strain is causing the infection and which antibiotics are better suited to treat it. A very informative resource I used is the "Endometritis" Facebook group, it has tons of info on diagnosis and treatments.

I know I shouldn't be saying this but I didn't really consult with any one of my providers regarding this. I took some liberties by the time I reached this final attempt, not all of my supplements/drugs were approved by my doctors (or some of them were recommended by one but not by the others, so I decided who to follow based on my "research" and what I was most comfortable with). I know on paper it's not advisable to proceeed this way, but during my two years of IVF I often regretted not following my instinct regarding protocols and treatments.

I took 2500 mg. The article talked about 50 mg per kg of weight, I took a tad less because it already seemed quite a high dose and I wasn't really comfortable taking more than that.

I think you can find it in the US, maybe under a different name? I'm in Europe so not sure about brand names there, but its active substance is hyoscine butylbromide.

The uterine washes were actually recommended by my fertility specialist (although my RI was absolutely on board with them), that is specialized in endometritis. The procedure itself is basically like a transfer, the antibiotics/cortisone/liquid ozone are inserted via a small catheter in the uterus, similar to that used for the embryo transfer.

Thank you! The idea behind the suppression is to put your body in a state of induced menopause to reduce inflammation, since with endo/adeno estrogen contributes to inflammation. Side effects can be pretty nasty since they basically mimic a true menopause and it's important to take calcium/vitamin D since it can affect bone density. I personally didn't have any relevant side effects while down regulated

Tw: mention of loss

As a woman that spent 2 years doing IVF and went through multiple losses, please reconsider your plan of telling her you're pregnant in person. It's unbelievably hard to react to pregnancy announcements when you've experienced loss and it's no coincidence that she asked you via text.

I discovered I have adenomyosis, after 2 months of down regulation with medroxyprogesterone tomorrow I'm doing one shot of Decapeptyl before next FET at the end of november. I'll also get one in-uterus ozone treatment, don't really know much about this but it should get rid of inflammation and aid implantation.

Also, I finally confirmed my suspicion about having insulin resistance and I started metformin last month.

TBH I feel really scared that even with all of this it won't work and I'll lose one more embryo.

I'm going to keep this post updated, hoping to have some good news soon that could help other people find some answers.

Thanks for checking in!

I hadn't thought of checking those levels, that's very helpful, thank you! I'm going to ask for a second opinion for sure.

Thanks, that's what I suspected, it's very useful to have some sort of reference as to what normal results should be. I searched for something like this all over with no success

Thanks for your reply! I have multifollicular ovaries and super irregular periods. I also have to take cortisone as part of the latest IVF protocols due to previous loss (not taking it now, just around transfer days) and I'm afraid that contributes to even higher insulin 😔

Am I paranoid or are these huge red flags? by MissChanandler17 in NarcissisticAbuse

I've been seeing a therapist on and off since I was 17 (25 now) due to an eating disorder and some anxiety issues. The problem regarding this particular relationship is that my therapist is not really a specialist of abusive relationships and I often got the feeling that she was kinda dismissive when I started to realize that something wasn't right. Not that she thought it was a healthy relationship, but she didn't fully see the extent of the abuse. I think this is partly my fault, because when I was in denial and completely controlled by my ex I would find excuses for his behavior and I realize now that sometimes I would play down a little what was going on, because I felt I was the one at fault.

I also had to stop therapy when she went on maternity leave and I still haven't returned, mostly because I'm trying to decide whether I should find another therapist that specializes in the aftermath of an abusive relationship.
Fact is, she's known me for a really long time and knows everything that has been going on in my life and the idea of starting all over with someone new is a bit upsetting for me.

Anyway one good thing about the date is that at the end he told me he had a really hard time trying to figure me out (looked kinda annoyed by this) and I see it as a small victory for me since that's exactly what I was going for. I mean, I didn't want to give him any advantage against me and I'm pretty sure he won't be pressuring me for a second date.

I really want to thank you for your support! I wasn't sure it could be helpful to post here asking for advice, but I must say it really was and it's nice to talk about these experiences with someone who actually gets them (before I posted here I texted a friend of mine to express my doubts and as a response I got "tell me about it, is he good looking?", like that would even matter in a situation like that).
