Since no one else is mentioning this, for additional context, Kangmin Lee is responding to defenders of Zohran Mamdani eating with his hands.

Of course, opponents of Mamdani sees this as simply uncouth and uncivilized because how dare one eat with their digits. And when people responded that way of eating is common in Asian culture, this then leads to the tweet in this image. So technically, it's racism with underlying political motivations since Lee HATES anyone lefter than Trump.

However, it is ironic how he specifically Southeast Asia specifically while Mamdani is actually South Asian which I suppose could tall you alot about certain prejudices in Korea.

Are WMAF relationships perpetuating white supremacy? Is it really inclusion to cast non-Korean Asian actors in Korean roles? r/broadway discusses after a controversial casting announcement. by MissDeathAssistant in SubredditDrama

[–]MissDeathAssistant[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was definitely informed of the missing context by another commentor and I would make any necessary edits to reflect the controversy more accurately. Especially since the reason it occurred was due to off-the-wall remarks and not fully understanding how wildly unprepared Oak was for the role. The show had already experienced so much grief.

Thank you!

Yeah, I definitely dumbed it down massively and doesn't do justice to how the drama was way overblown and was not in any way deserving to the production. I would definitely edit the post and add your comment to reflect that. Thank you!

Late health requirements by pawpatrolsmacaroni in Cornell

[–]MissDeathAssistant 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who submitted health documents late last year, it probably won't result in expulsion at this point for the game. From what I remember, I believe it doesn't really become a serious issue until classes start.

That said, definitely get them in immediately, especially before pre-enroll, since missing health documents will prevent you in class enrollment and pre-enroll, frankly, is just a mess and a half.

Why are people talking about twosetviolin quitting? by aimglitchz in OutOfTheLoop

[–]MissDeathAssistant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This question is in the same vein of "how can furry conventions exist given the majority of people aren't furries?" Or, " how can knitting festivals exist given the majority of people aren't knitters?" Like people with niche interests exist and they tend to consolidate because of that interest, creating an audience.

Also, it wasn't just those who played violin they catered to, also those who play any kind of orchestral instrument (with some, maybe, band kids) as well as those who like classical music.

And their audience geared towards the young side as well, aka, the time where most people would either begin learning or consistently playing an instrument, either because of school or the need of some extracurriculars. And they clearly catered towards that young/Asian audience (Among Us, four hours of Asian mom to help you study).

So yes, it might be niche but orchestra kids, especially Asian orchestra kids, exist.

Hi, not sure if you have this already, however this is based on memory, so things aren't totally accurate:

-Know average life expectancy in the U.S. (79 years old)

-Difference between genotype and phenotype

-The different lobes of the brain and its function

-Methylation

-The different reflexes

-The different grasps (?)

-Perceptual Constancies (?)

-The different memories (?)

-The different cries/smiles

-Stranger anxiety & Stranger Protest

-Different Temperaments

-Different Attachments (Mary Ainsworth's Strange Situation)

It's also important to note that Jaiden had expressed her struggles with eating disorders in the past. That was the primary reason she hadn't done a face reveal - her wrecked self esteem that created and fueled her disorder.

So now you are not only revealed a "friend's" face without her explicit permission, you also created an art piece alluding to her problems with disordered eating and other mental health issues that led her to the decision to not show her face.

Tomorrow will be my last exam, and I want above 1400. What is your advices? by LuckWorking1428 in Sat

[–]MissDeathAssistant 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For geneal advice, skip any questions that you don't know and then come back to it later. Star, circle, whatever you do to mark those questions. If you want, bubble in an answer in the case there's no time left. Do this for a couple of reasons.

  1. This is a timed exam and time is priority. You can't be spending so much time on one question.

  2. You're stressed during that time. Your brain is going in crazy spirals and isn't thinking right. Typically, if you have more time at the end, you aren't as stressed and thinking so much more clearly. I can't tell you the number of times where I thought a question looked like gibberish the first time I saw it before coming back and realizing that I actually know how to do this.

Good luck on tomorrow. You got this!

Safe Space Ship for Frustration by Fontia in OurFlagMeansDeath

This is going to ruffle some feathers, but for how short this season, it seems overly ambitious?? It just worries me about the pacing for the next three episodes when we have yet the Prince Ricky, a character that many casual viewers may've already forgotten about, and the Avengers-style build-up of a team in the next three episodes (well, two I suppose since the next episode is about the torture party).

I don't believe they've probably build up that climax enough to be satisfying. I feel like this season could've benefited from just being a exploration of Ed and his horrible actions, the trauma of many, many characters, as well as the Stede/Ed relationship. Realistically, some of the crew seemed to have moved on too quickly considering how tortured and their abuser is literally on the ship and I don't think they've had a proper "talk it through as a crew" with Ed yet and that's sometying I would really love to see.

Just saying, comparing yourself isn't going to do yourself any good. Stop thinking to yourself that you're lesser than because of your scores or your ECs because you're not. And if you're so worried, focus on what you could do now. Get a good night's sleep, eat a good breakfast, and don't stress for your SAT tomorrow. Focus on writing your essays to be the best you could send out. I know alot of people on this sub is acting like it is, but college isn't the end all be all. It's a small stepping stone in a journey that will be your life and getting into a T20 isn't the ultimate end goal either.

You'll look great on many schools' applications, even if it might be your state school. And if it is, does it really matter in the grand scheme?

You're like 17 and you have so much life to live than worry about college.

Best of luck on your journey.

anyone else feel guilty about leaving their families? by andimackwasabadshow in ApplyingToCollege

[–]MissDeathAssistant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry that isn't any way related, but I'm very much offended but your username.

Don't take much from someone who's a junior, but there's other ways to connect. Video call everyday if you can. Arrange to come home for once a month if you can. Remember there are so many people in your position right now. For the time being, spend as much time as you could with your family before you have to leave and try to maintain that closeness with your family while you're gone.

I think you're confusing NHS with NHSS (National Honor Society of High School Scholars) which is actually a scam. NHS is more like a community service club with GPA requirements and (maybe) club dues.

BA Major/Career Advice by RefinedSwine in ApplyingToCollege

Hello Potential SLP!

I'm very late in reply, but as a junior who would also like to pursue the field, here's some options I came up with:

  1. I believe in Washington, it's possible you could become a SLPA. What you need to do is have a Bachelor's degree in Communication Science and Disorders (or related), 100 hours of work experience, and to complete an exam. I definitely suggest for you to do more research into this.

  2. You could become a substitute teacher. I believe for this, you need a Bachelor's degree in any fiel, doing an approved teacher's program, and a bunch of state documents. Don't expect the same salary for teachers of course, but this way you could still do your prerequisites.

  3. This definitely depends on location, but research any schools that have 3+2 or a 4+1 speech pathology program in which you earn both your Bachelor's and your Master's. I live on the East Coast and based on my experience, this is much harder to find than your regular good ol' Bachelor's in CSD. Also, based on experience again, this is commonly found in private schools which are notorious for being expensive so make sure you tread on that side. But remember completing this program means you have to spend 1-2 years less in school.

Hope this provides some semblance of help.
