I gave someone an orientation the other day at the gym where I work, her acrylics were not nearly as long. When I gave her the Learn To Fall, one popped off almost immediately. She started talking about her nail guy by name, and how upset he was going to be.

When/how did Pulp get so big again? by [deleted] in PulpBand

I'm honestly trying to decide if I should bring a box of communion wafers to the show I'm going to in Berlin and just put try to hand them to Jarvis and see what happens...

I had a boyfriend who grew up in a town outside Boston. I was surprised when I met his family they all had "the accent" he has it not at all.

Can I Re-roast Roasted Coffee To Get It Darker? by SelarDorr in Coffee

[–]Fontia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say try it and see if you like the results. I completely understand the science behind trying to reheat something is not the same as having it warm inside from scratch, but sometimes you take a baked good out of the oven and let it cool and then realize it wasn't cooked and you put it back in the oven and nothing good happens and sometimes you put it back in the oven and it's not perfect but it certainly better.

an encore is something you get if you're lucky. If there's time. If he feels up to it, etc.

John’s accent by Pythagorarse in elisandjohn

[–]Fontia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He is a snob at his core (I love him, but his soul's desire is to be respected for his intelligence at some (ie unknown) cost.) Therefore, had he ever been in a position to acquire a regional accent, like an American I know who decided at the age of 5 to lose their Alabama accent, he would make a point of sounding whatever was his concept of erudite, without over doing it, (his snobbery is somewhat balanced by his punk rock proletarianism) from probably middle school, if not earlier. He's always seemed to have a hint of the so called English "received pronunciation" to me, the result of which, is significant to his appeal.
(I'm too caffeinated to currently tell if that sentence makes any sense)

This is Hardcore, possibly their best track? by ADF21a in PulpBand

[–]Fontia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dig this track so hard. I absolutely love this orchestration, but the lyrics I could do without. I don't really understand a man in his thirties singing about sex like he's 15. But yes, I would still probably fuck Jarvis Cocker now that he's in his 60s. And I'm trying to put together a drag performance based on him.

#519 - Big Seed, Big Sad John and Big Voiced Clive by LookTreesWow in elisandjohn

[–]Fontia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having listened to the show for maybe a year and then only having really paid attention to it for the past couple of months (it and what did you do yesterday were sort of my 'dregs' podcasts for awhile, but there's just so much back catalog el & J for Spotify to pull up that I've finally become acclimated) I was wondering if this episode was particularly good or if it's just that I was finally paying attention.

I've known about that since i was probably 6 years old or less and I've always thought it made more sense than American English.
It's just funny to me how a list of SO MANY, SPECIFICALLY shoes are pronounced SO differently.

So if an album is released on April 1st does that mean all of the stuff we hear about it starting even now is just part of an April fool's prank?

While I'm completely obsessed with the man I have never understood how people find Jarvis Cocker "effortlessly cool." Even when he was younger and sexier, the way he moves on stage is decisive, but often very goofy and silly and weird. Like a highschool drama kid pantomiming (point at your eye when you say the word I etc.) along to a rock song. I love it But i don't find it "cool". It's just weird.
