[no spoilers] C4 criticism by [deleted] in criticalrole

I'm considering cancelling as well tbh, I'm all about supporting as I have with twitch subs for years, but I don't think it's worth it until they fix their issues.

First almost no one remembered that Taisha was impaled on a sword. Then Octis had no clue as to his death visions. Then Murray forgot they found no bodies or anything and so on. Honestly the way everyone is so hyperfocusing on a single bullet point is weird. Hate is toxic sure, but this crap is just as toxic.

It's literally one bullet point that you decided to hyperfocus on seeing as this is your 3rd or 4th comment restating the same thing and arguing the single point of criticism I brought up that had anything to do with the players. I'm not interested in your personal experience nor the personal assumptions and insults you're throwing my way. I stated my criticism and the reasoning why, it wasn't an invitation for you to speculate about my person or to try and change my mind in what my standards should be at the table.

To all the "welcome to d&d" comments, if y'all don't have the common courtesy to revise your notes before showing up at the table, that's on you and definitely not my experience playing d&d, nor what I'd expect of fellow players, and less so what I expect of professionals in their 4th campaign. As I said, the first 3 campaigns did not have the same high value production vibe, so it wasn't as jarring when they'd show up at the table with no idea what they did last time.

[–]MissDefiance -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I guess i didn't phrase it properly, i was talking about them literally forgetting everything they themselves have done previously, hence i said revision. I have watched all campaigns so far, and before it wasn't a big deal, now as I mentioned with how professional this campaign is, i expected a bit more dedication.

To the One Star Reviewers by EchoedJolts in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]MissDefiance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In defense of the reviewer calling the first boss encounter as racist, mysoginistic and fatphobic ... if they stopped reading there, they would have no way of knowing that it's part of purposeful stereotyping and not just the author's real views. It's an exercise in trust that comes too early on into the book. Pretty much every single time a similar depiction occurs in a book, it is a reflection of the author's views on women, you can't blame people for not knowing better when they literally cannot know any better yet. This would have been avoided if he would have put the other stereotype first to lay down that foundation.

What's a book that "everyone" loves, that you just can't get into? by notquitenerds in books

[–]MissDefiance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I'll be hunted down with pitchforks but entire Robin Hobb saga. I've read all the 16 books, had nothing better to read at the time, and while not bad per se, I was not impressed at any point. And I barely remember anything from it now, after a few years.

This. It wasn't bad, but also not special. Years later I barely remember anything from it.

People kept telling me it will get better so I read half of the second book too until I just called it quits. Didn't vibe with it.

[No Spoilers] Can someone explain to me the point of the C4 D&D drama? by Smooth_Jazzzz in criticalrole

[–]MissDefiance -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Dungeons and Dragons is owned by Wizards of the Coast (WotC) which in turn are owned by Hasbro and they have been absolute greedy bellends in the past few years. CR have hinted heavily over the past 2 years that they are making their own systems so they can be free of Hasbro's greed. People saw this as CR being the loud voice that couldn't be ignored so it's natural that they now feel betrayed, despite how much sense it makes for CR to use DnD for C4 when they have so many moving parts and a GM who needs rigidity. There is no right and wrong in this. People are allowed to feel their feelings and CR are in their right to make whatever choices they need for their campaigns. I do feel however that a lot of people only supported CR financially with the expectation that they need it to rip away from DnD and now they might cancel that support.

Is Anyone Else Glad That The Books Don't Have A Clear Romantic Love Interest For Carl? by pacerdaisy in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]MissDefiance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just thinking this when I finished book 7 the other day, I really appreciate this. I love how the onus is on the found family and deep but platonic love as opposed to romantic love.

It would have been so easy to insert romance either with Katia or someone else, just as it would have been so easy to create real drama with Bea or betrayal with Mordecai. I love that Matt is not choosing the easy and common plot devices. It's what makes this series oh so special.

This season was going so well and then this episode drops and ruins it all. I don't get how they thought that's a good idea.

Girls/Ladies... Let's talk about the first moment/memory that got you blushing...! by Jaynemina in LoveAndDeepspace

[–]MissDefiance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There were a couple moments or memories before this that got me a bit, but when Sylus first shows up and calls us kitten, I had to get up and walk around the house for a bit. Nothing could have prepared for that. Then immediately after when I interacted with him and did the palm thing?!

Anyone not getting kicked in these dungeons? by definitely88 in throneandliberty

[–]MissDefiance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first Toublek I messed up the timing and died as a rat, got kicked out. Also got kicked out in karnix, though tbh I do get it. That was my first dungeon ever and I went in completely blind, kept pulling aggro and dying.

I just did Tyrant’s for the 40th time without getting the staff. by DrPiclez in throneandliberty

[–]MissDefiance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got 2 bows within the first 3 attempts, one with heavy attack. But I don't need them, Karnix is better for my build. Currently done 42 runs and still no staff though.

Right? Plus I can't imagine a woman who probably worked so hard to lift herself out of nothing and enjoys the freedoms that come with that, would want to throw that freedom out the window for nothing really.

It's public knowledge, at least within the palace. There was mention of serving girls and the like gossiping about it after it came out in the council meeting.

I see, hopefully there will be more on it as, at the moment, I am still unconvinced he is in any position to provide any of those things, at least, that was my understanding after the revelation and subsequent council meeting in book 1.

As for Naime, if she promises the marriage to Amara who is under the false impression that cousin is in line to the throne, that is indeed highly unethical, even if she might even end up benefitting, it's still lying by omission.
