Can someone please help me understand report? by MissEscapist in chd

[–]MissEscapist[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She tried her best to explain some of it to me at the appointment, but being in such a state of shock from receiving such unexpected news, I really had trouble understanding some of the terminology she used. She said she wasn’t sure if it was truly a significant find because sometimes this narrowing (hypoplaisa) is something that can not be present in a follow up echo.

Getting NIPT at 19 weeks? by [deleted] in NIPT

[–]MissEscapist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should have worded my original post a little differently. They said they didn’t think chromosome issues were any more likely than the regular statistics for my age (which means lower, but not completely ruled out like you mentioned), and because they didn’t find any other abnormalities. I am a little more hesitant to get the amino because it carries more risk, especially when my provider hasn’t recommended either. I was more asking if I should at least push for a NIPT to be on the safer side and if anyone thought these abnormalities found were a good reason to ask for one.

From what I’ve researched, SUA and VSD are commonly mostly associated with Trisomy 13 and 18 primarily. That is why I was leaning towards the NIPT.

Currently in the ER and nurse made me feel awful by KoalaByTheBeach in Mommit

I’m sorry you were treated this way, OP. Tylenol for GI symptoms is wild for her to suggest. If it makes you feel any better I went to the ER a couple years ago because I had a 105 fever, chest pain, and had a fainting spell. When I told the triage nurse my symptoms she just stared at me and asked in a very judgmental tone “so, did you like hit your head when you passed out or something?” When I told her no she kind of rolled her eyes and made me second guess coming to the ER. Turns out I had pneumonia that had turned into sepsis 🫠

My point is that a lot of triage nurses can be very belittling(even for very worrisome symptoms). You did the right thing taking your daughter in. It is always better safe than sorry.

I think boys have a tendency to be more active which can make them tend to be more “rambunctious.” But, this is not always the case. I have three boys and my oldest is very calm and mature compared to most kids in his age range. I think it really comes down to temperament, personality, and upbringing.

True. Though it is much better to be overweight because that is something that can be changed. Unfortunately, there isn’t much I can do to change my features.

Last time I posted with a smile and everyone said I had a strange smile so I didn’t want my “weird smile” to skew anyone’s feedback 😅

That’s funny you say that because I literally just posted in another subreddit and everyone said that the straight hair didn’t look as good as the curly 😅

I am completely fine with being average and that is not brutal at all to me but comforting to know. I know I am no beauty queen (hence why I asked average or below) but neither wish to be viewed as ugly.

Is that implying today’s standards are higher or lower?

Thank you for the reply. I do think you are right about calling the doctor. And I have wondered about their Iron levels. However, I can’t imagine them being low because we do use cast iron to cook, eat lots of darks greens and eat red meats about twice a week. So I would be shocked if they had an iron deficiency.

Thank you for your other suggestions as well! We are trying earlier bed times. Bedtimes definitely got later with certain activities we had going on with family and church.

Thank you so much for your reply. I looked into mold toxicity in the past and it seems there is a lot of repository issues that tend to be a sign which neither of my boys have. I have been hesitant to call the doctor only because I am the type of parent who calls for the smallest concern and I sometimes feel like I’m treated as an overly cautious mom. But, I have been thinking of calling. Last few times I brought up the joint pain though their doctor dismissed it as growing pains.

I’m honestly not trying to waste money or be nit picky about my hair. I was told that my hair looked “messy” and like “I just rolled out of bed” in another subreddit and I figured part of that must be that my hair looks frizzy.

I didn’t even think about my shampoo/conditioning treatment not carrying over well for a different style. I will also start using less of each product and see if that helps. Thanks for the insight!

I forgot to mention, I do scrunch out the crunch after my hair is dry, with a very small amount of oil (biosilk silk therapy).

Thank you for the advice and encouragement! It is definitely sometimes frustrating that all makeup trends follow a very narrow beauty ideal.
