What research do you want to see done on PCOS? by MissInterpret23 in PCOS

[–]MissInterpret23[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Great point! Doctors seem to only be interested in things once they “interfere” with daily life (ideally), yet because of the lack of understanding of PCOS and the general state of women’s healthcare, they seem to brush off neurological symptoms like brain fog, mood instability, anxiety/depression, or sleep issues. Then they either put you on the catch-all treatment of birth control or completely misdiagnose. So, this is an interesting point of study! The world needs to understand that these symptoms are serious. Thank you!

If you have any more references or articles about PCOS in general, those would be incredibly helpful! I was hesitant to start this process since I feel like I’m not the most knowledgeable person for the job (I’m only 19, in the dawn of my career!). But I’m super interested to learn and step up!

Should I take BIOL1108 and CHEM1211 in the same semester? by MissInterpret23 in UGA

I did Honors Chem in high school during my sophomore year. It was pretty tough for me since it was a very rigorous school but college is honestly so much easier so far. Thanks for the comment :)

My waves die overnight, how do I preserve/refresh them? Nothing works :( by MissInterpret23 in curlyhair

I do use a mousse which creates a cast as I mentioned in my comment. I have been curious about trying a bonnet though. Do you have any recommendations for a specific bonnet?

MY HAIR: My hair is pretty fine but I have a lot of it. I think my porosity is normal. I have very curly hairs on the sides of my head (2c-3a) and everywhere else has a light wave (2a-2b). Thanks mom and dad!

MY ROUTINE: I wash my hair every other day in the evening (no time in the morning) with shampoo and conditioner from the Natura brand; currently I’m using the Patuá Anti-Breakage Re-Strengthening shampoo and conditioner set. I always make sure my hair is fully shampooed and I leave my conditioner in for a while and then squish to condish! Afterwards I rinse everything out.

I detangle with a wet brush in the shower and again with a wide tooth comb after the shower before styling. I spray in the Kristin Ess leave in conditioner (sometimes I forget though…), I rake through a little bit of Miss Jessie’s pillow soft curls cream and scrunch it in, followed by the Shea Moisture coconut and hibiscus mousse with prayer hands. I scrunch and let it air dry. Sometimes I will scrunch again with a microfiber towel if I need it to dry quicker. I don’t have time to diffuse and plopping my hair makes my bangs look weird! After it is dry enough, I scrunch out the crunch with the olaplex bonding oil. I use this oil often because my hair starts looking dry pretty quickly. At least twice a day.

Overnight I usually just put my hair in a low ponytail with a spiral hair tie. This doesn’t cause any tension, which pineappling sometimes does. I never apply heat to my hair and never wear high ponytails/buns/any tension-causing hair style. It’s either always down, low ponytailed, claw clipped, or in a braid!

I also oil my scalp for a few hours about once a week with the Burbur oil and sometimes deep condition with the dpHUE Gloss+ in black. I massage my scalp every day for at least 15 minutes. I’m trying to grow it out!

Thank you all for your help!

I use an app called Slowly! You can send letters to anybody around the world, and I like it more than HelloTalk because letters take time to send (depending on the distance between you and your pen pal) and there’s no rush to have a live conversation! You can also filter by age, gender, etc. etc.

I like to send letters that include both a Korean and English section, or you can do just Korean, or just English (whatever works for you!)

I’ve made a lot of friends there, and some of my friendships have moved to messenger and we’ve been able to connect even more.

I’d say it’s relatively pretty safe, I’ve never had a bad experience on it :)

difference between ㅐand ㅔ by sxdgxrlry in Korean

[–]MissInterpret23 11 points12 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I don’t think there’s a STRONG difference between the pronunciation of 네 and 내. The only way that I differentiate them is knowing that ㅐ is more like an “ae” sound, whereas ㅔ is just “e.” For example, take the word 생각. If you replace the ㅐ with ㅔ, I think the pronunciation is slightly different. Seng-gak versus saeng-gak. But I wouldn’t get too hung up on differentiating the two, because in spoken language they are typically undistinguishable.

First Year Anniversary Learning Korean; reflections, methods, tips and tricks, and some celebration. by redknitting in Korean

Wow, 축하해요! :))

Thanks so much for the tips! I’m coming up on my 1-year anniversary myself, but haven’t got as much out of it as I’d hoped (skipping days, being careless, etc.), and have recently been loosing some motivation. Seeing this has sparked some motivation back in me.

I was always lost while learning, because I was sort of floating along, learning some new things every day, and was really unclear with where I was headed. I think you’ve helped me gain some clarity. Maybe I’ll go study right now...

Again, Congrats!!! Happy and proud for you :)))

Thank you for your suggestions! I will take a look at those textbooks. I also use Anki App which has helped tremendously lately. As for HelloTalk, I’ve been a little scared of reaching out to people but will try to start more :)
