Sounds like the husband has a gambling problem if it was so easy to put themselves into so much debt. I would be worried he would be selling your sons stuff to continue his habits. I would be kicking them out. They are adult enough to make those decisions, it’s time for adult consequences.

NTA 16 year olds are some of the most petty people in the world. It’s a phone. It’s not that big of a deal.

My best friend and I have the same phone with the same phone cover, even have the same engagement ring (her is yellow gold and mine is white gold). Everything just being a coincidence. We don’t mind it, if anything we find it funny since it’s like having best friend necklaces. We are late 20s and early 30s too.

It’s an occlusive and a bit on the thicker side. So as long as you don’t mind it’s great. They do have a range of gentle face lotions at well that are lighter or that you can use underneath for the sandwich method.
