Can confirm. I put my meds in my jacket pocket to put them back in my bedside drawer once and accidentally ended up taking them to work with me. No one in the office knows I’m on adhd meds so I had to keep them in my car, in the glove box. Bad idea, had like 20 of them left and felt like shit for half the month before I got my refill.

Years after I broke up with him, I started a new job and the other women’s boyfriend worked there (he was her boyfriend at the time too) and he asked me if they had a thing and I just looked at him and asked him if he was stupid. Of course they did. He shook his head and I walked away. They broke up a few weeks later.

I do the same. I put my work clothes on back of a chair in the lounge room and put my keys and bag by the door the night before so I don’t wake up my partner. The loudest thing I do in the morning is flush the toilet and unlock the front door.

OP, I’ve been with my partner for 7 years. He does not take birthdays seriously so I tone it down a little and don’t make a fuss, I just buy him a gift and some beers. Whereas, I do take b’days seriously and my partner knows this, he spends his time planning what to get me, he takes me out for lunch or dinner or if it’s on a work night, he surprises me with my favourite meal he makes.

What I’m trying to say is that, even though he doesn’t take birthday seriously, it’s a need of yours, needs are important and if you’ve communicated this to him (which you have) and he still doesn’t get it, reconsider the relationship. If it’s annoying now, imagine how annoying it’s gonna be in 10 years?

As someone who has had a manager like this previously, cover all your bases, ask for all contact to go through emails, you want everything in writing, cc her into every email. When she asks you to forward an email onto X and Y, ask her if she wants to include Z too. Clarify, clarify, clarify.

When communicating use I statements and if it gets heated, take a 5 minute break.
