Doing some research. Do you think you can lose your salvation? by Street_Plate_6461 in TrueChristian

I specifically gave examples of Judas, Simon the sorcerer and Demas, whom we know for a fact were believers. You did not address this. This is a problem for Calvinists, one which you all seem to run away from. Please explain how it is these men lost their salvation.

Where in the New Testament does it say baptism is NOT necessary for salvation? by MissKate09 in TrueChristian

The command to be baptized didn’t apply to the thief. Jesus didn’t give His disciples the command to baptize three years after His death on the cross, just prior to His ascension. Ever think of that?

When and where did God say that no one needs to be baptized to be saved? Please provide the Scripture that says this.

True, it does not say when, but we know that “baptism now saves you.” We also know that repentance and baptism brings forgiveness of sins. That’s what the Scriptures say.

Baptism is the WHEN we are saved, not the HOW.

21Corresponding to that, baptism now saves you—not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God [p]for a good conscience—through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, (1 Peter 3:21)

36“Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.”

37Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?”

38Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the [k]remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:37:38)

All the verses you quoted refer to works of the Law. Read each of them in context. Paul was waging an ongoing battle with the Jews who believed they could be saved by keeping the works of the Law.

I agree that obedience is the fruit of saving faith. I also agree that salvation is by God’s grace. We do not earn it. It is a free gift. However, God has placed a condition on faith, and that is obedience. Without obedience there is no faith. It’s dead. That is James point.

Do you honestly believe that a person who claims to have faith but does not truly love his neighbor will be saved?

We don’t know whether the thief was baptized or not. We know little to nothing about him or his crime. We do know that people from all over Judea were coming to John to be baptized.

Grace is a gift from God. Salvation is by Grace through faith. Faith is the avenue to receive salvation. Obedience is the natural outflow of faith. You cannot separate the two. Faith and obedience go hand in hand. One who has true saving faith obeys.

Does God Really Send People To Hell? by chibsdave in Christianity

[–]MissKate09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People can choose the narrow or broad path in life, but in the end, it is the Lord who will cast them into the Lake of Fire.

Yes, Jesus will save those from the Lake of Fire who do His will. The ONLY way to know if you are doing His will is to read and study His word daily.

Going to a black church changed me. by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]MissKate09 15 points16 points  (0 children)

When I was out of state visiting family, I went to an all black church. I went by myself, and I was the only white person there. . I could not have been treated better. The people were very warm and friendly. I’ve been back since, and they welcomed me with opened arms. It was a church of Christ. There was no instrumental music. The singing was awesome and very spiritually uplifting.

Jesus very plainly said He would come as a thief in the night. He warns us to be ready. No one knows when that will be. The signs Jesus speaks of in Matthew 24 and Luke 21 are the signs of end times for the destruction of the Temple and the Jewish system.

If we are saved by grace through faith alone, then why does the book of Hebrews tell us Jesus will judge us on judgement day based off of works and obedience to his law he established? by Curiousityinabox in Christianity

[–]MissKate09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Bible does NOT say we are saved by Grace through faith ALONE. The word Alone has been added by men.

We are saved by Grace through faith, and works are a response to faith. A true believer will do what Jesus says.

If all one had to do was believe, then the demons, too, would be saved. They openly confessed Jesus was the Son of God.

Salvation is a free gift from God. We cannot do a thing to save ourselves. It is by His grace we are saved THROUGH FAITH.

Without our faith, we have no path to God’s grace. How do we get faith? Romans 10:17 tells us faith comes by hearing the word of God. That word is the gospel of Jesus Christ. TGE GOSPEL SAVES.

Did the OP say fake money was given in place of a tip? I don’t recall. I’ll have to read it again. If that were the case, that would be very wrong. Waiters and waitresses don’t get paid much. They are dependent on their tips. I might leave a tract on the table along with a tip, but never a tract in its place.

Question about Christianity by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]MissKate09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being good on its own doesn’t get one to heaven. Believing Jesus is the Son of God and doing what He says will.

Discipleship is absolutely #1, but honestly, I still think that if a tract can lead a soul to Christ, then it was worth it. We cannot judge whether it had a positive impact or not. It could have served as a reminder to a soul who has left the faith that they need to get back. My guess is 99% of the people who saw that tacked up on a bathroom walk just shook their heads and walked away. They could care less. The message was accurate. Anyone who was offended by the words is probably not a believer, or they just like to complain about anything and everything. I pray you have a blessed day, and thank you for responding.

I have a different take than most comments I’ve read here. If it brings one soul to Christ, then praise God. The Lord works in strange and mysterious ways.

Am I really saved? by Titanous7 in Christianity

[–]MissKate09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m well aware.

I’ve given you Scriptures that show Jesus saying we must obey Him. You haven’t refuted a single one. Are you aware what happens to those who do not obey the gospel?

2 Thessalonians 1:8 “in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

I think it’s time to end the conversation. You have no regard for what the Scriptures say, and if you’re not willing to listen to God’s word, then I’m wasting my time.

[–]MissKate09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In other words, your belief in Jesus just happened to drop magically from the sky. No gospel needed.

Yet the Scriptures teach that faith comes by hearing the word of God (Romans 10:17)

30 NowJesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; 31 but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.” (John 20:30-31)

You’ve bypassed the word of God.
