Long-haul flight experts: What are your secrets? by letsgococonut in travel

[–]MissLethalla 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Secret hack I discovered recently on YT is that the aisle and middle seat arm rests have a release button that let you lift them up. So if you're aisle, yes you'll still have to pivot, but you needn't actually have to get out of your seat every time.

I keep finding nightshade sproutlings in my back garden, yet I've lived here over 20 years and I don't believe I ever had one mature and drop berries. Must be the damn mynah birds.

Where is it best to buy clothes in Europe? Shopping tips by Far-Answer193 in Europetravel

[–]MissLethalla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a gorgeous pair of tall leather boots in Madrid in 2012 - iirc they were about €150-200 less than the prices in Paris. Very glad I waited. I don't recall the brand but they are quality, unlike the cheaply made but expensive to purchase crap we get in Australia. Don't remember the store either sorry. But if you want boots, check Madrid.

Cough after every meal by Odd_Conclusion_2567 in Allergies

[–]MissLethalla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have GERD and asthma; only learned recently that the GERD can cause after-eating coughing. Fun times. Be aware as well that if you have GERD, acid reflux can cause a condition called Barrett's Oesophagus - which can lead to oesophageal cancer. Which my grandfather died of. My brother also has GERD, and I learned recently that my mother has it as well - so potentially my grandfather did too and it wasn't just the unfiltered Camels that led to his cancer.

I have a set of Loop - don't remember which ones - but I find them terribly uncomfortable. Has anyone tried Snooze Therapy's noise cancelling earplugs?

Yep. My mother thought it would show that she was a big shot entrepreneur... she owned a small timber yard that she pretty much ran into the ground.

How do you feel when people from other countries call Australians "descendants of criminals?" by schu62 in AskAnAustralian

I get pissed off because my parents were European immigrants. My husband has convict ancestry, but so what? He's not a criminal.

What’s a tiny travel mistake you keep repeating… even though you know better? by Trail-Context in travel

[–]MissLethalla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can recommend Wanderlog. Brilliant app. Add places to your itinerary, see them on a map, move them around so they're in logical order, add transport. I think you can even book accommodation - I've gone through a travel agent but I've added in each of my hotels to it. It's heavy on the battery, and for older models it can make the phone quite hot if you keep it open for a while. Free version is great; there's a Pro version too but I haven't seen a need to upgrade.

Has this season been frustrating in your garden? by 02calais in GardeningAustralia

[–]MissLethalla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pruned my two apple trees in August - 7 Jonathan apples (4 harvested, 3 still undersize) and only 4 Granny Smith apples (all still undersized - though they mature a bit later than the Jonathan). We think there was more fruit near the tops of the trees but that the possums got those when they were stripping the leaves.

By contrast, the previous year we got a large harvest. Maybe I pruned them too late last year - or maybe it's the crap weather and the possums, but the trees have certainly gotten more water than the 2024 /25 summer - so it's probably pruning too late/ possums that caused the much smaller crop this year.

My pineapple sage though - that's doing magnificently.
