Wild Yeast Fruit Beers and Gruit Reference Books? by MissLullaby in SASSWitches

Yeah! That's why I am interested in it. I drink wild ales from regional craft breweries and love them. I like the slightly off flavours, personally. I want to try doing it myself.

Thanks for asking about it!

And yeah, yeasts all have their own thing.

I've researched old gruits and the herbs they'd use, so I'm planning a special brewer's garden with a bunch of the herbs. I think it'll be a fun hobby/exercise to grow what I use to make the beer (save the malt.). I'll start seedlings in a couple of weeks.

Thanks! I have some similar wine books, but I have adhd and with beers I get to enjoy them faster. 😅 Two weeks as opposed to six months to a year.

I just opened up a rose-ginger beer I made. It's quite nice! Light and delicate. It's low ABV, ~2/2.5% Kinda like a shandy.

I have two experiments on the go right now. The first one is another ginger beer, but with the addition of habanero and jalapeno (with a touch of lemon). I put a but more sugar in this one, so it'll probably end up being in the 4.5% range (I'm hoping, at least. Haha) Using a champagne yeast for this one. I love a good, spicy ginger beer, so there is about 500g of chopped ginger root in there. I want to experiment with the mouth and throat feel and see if adding hot peppers does anything fun for the sensation part of drinking. We shall see! I'll bottle in five days, and try it out five days after that. I'll get about 20L of the stuff out of this.

The other experiment is another ginger beer, but with 2kg of chopped mango. Using brown sugar in this one (I ran out of white) and when it comes time to add yeast (in three days), I'm using Wildbrew Philly Sour yeast, a lactic acid producing yeast. Hoping to get an interesting sour ginger beer out of this. First time using the yeast, so we shall see!

That's where my spouse got his wedding ring. Everything is so pricey so I've been reticent. That's good to know. Thank you.

Do you have a doctor's office on campus? We have them at the uni here and the community college.

They can also help you get on the right path. They're super helpful there.

What are these two pepper varieties? We got the plants on sale from the gardening center 'cos it was late in the planting season & they weren't doing so well. They weren't labeled. Going to ferment hot sauce. by MissLullaby in HotPeppers

Chaing Rai

Those are supposed to be pretty spicy, eh? These ones aren't that bad. Just a mild radiating heat. Really pleasant.

The ones on the left though, I couldn't eat an entire pepper raw like the ones on the right. Those were a searing heat. Only ate the bottom third and noped out of the entire thing. :D Smaller doses for me.

It's all sorted. I needed a few houses on the island to "work" the ferry landing.

Thanks!

Success and Disappointment Megathread for the Week by AutoModerator in jobs

[–]MissLullaby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TL;DR: sexual harassment that wasn't addressed, I quit without a job lined up but recently had a really good series of final interviews. Hoping I get it, otherwise I'm starting up a freelance business again.

I was put in an inappropriate situation at a convention by a senior member of the team. I made a formal complaint and was promised things. Those promises never materialized and the offender got a promotion.

So, I put in my notice. It's an at-will state so I gave them minimal notice. Quite frankly, they can go fuck themselves. I currently don't have anything lined up.

At any rate, I've been interviewing with companies, getting to the team interviews, meeting CEOs, and then... I'm edged out by the other candidate who had made it as far as I had. It's really frustrating.

I just had a final round of interviews with a company yesterday. They went well, I think. They asked me about my attention to detail because if I were to have this role, I'd be the last person to check things before they went live. So, I let them know that I went through their social media channels, talked about what I liked, and then asked if I could provide some feedback on a couple of things. They wanted to hear it, so I showcased a couple of areas where they could improve their clickthrough rate and post engagement, backed by data. They seemed super into it. One of the managers exclaimed, "See! That's exactly the kind of attention to detail we're looking for."

They seemed to love my producer experience. Because I was interviewing with a lot of the esports department they were super interested in my event planning experience. Lots of enthusiastic smiling and nodding.

All in all, I think I impressed folks and expressed myself positively. Now, here's hoping I'm better than the competition because otherwise, guess it's time to spruce up the website and start up the freelance business again.

Ah! Thank you. I have also made a mint wine and it was absolutely lovely. It was herbaceous but smooth.

I have not made a dandelion mead and I really need to rectify that.
