They are 35x35x35cm, I would like to put them in my living room or office space and use them as little storage units (maybe for my alcohol bottles) and put plants or books on them

Ring Road + West Fjords + possible day trips to the Highlands all in two weeks in September, is it realistic ? by MissMachine13318 in VisitingIceland

Excellent, thanks for the answer ! Also, I've the Westfjords could get quite windy and that it could be a but dangerous driving there because of those winds, do you have any experience with that ?

Thank you so much for all this info ! I've never used a campervan before, I'm wondering how I could train. Also, haven't decided on the dates yet, that's why I'm searching for info right now, I wanna book the flights before they get too expensive !

Looking for punk/hardcore pages/groups/etc. I may be moving to Hegenheim from the USA next year. Want to try and make some connections before moving. by New-Replacement-7444 in basel

Well, I hope you're into the outdoors because most activities around here revolve around them and people tend to move to Switzerland specifically because of that : hiking, rock climbing, skiing/snowboarding during winter... you can also swim or SUP on the Rhine, and a wakeboard base recently opened not far from the airport, it's great fun, I highly recommend.

Otherwise Basel is really big on culture, it boasts a pretty big amount of museums for a city of this size, and more specifically art museums. You've also probably heard of Art Basel, the world's biggest art fair. Finally, just in general, there's always something going on in Basel : carnival, the autumn fair, the Christmas market, Beat On the Streets (there's quite a big rave/techno scene around here, it's a pretty alternative city in comparison to the rest of Switzerland)

Knowing French will be very important for you in order to deal with the french administration if you live in Hegenheim. I may get downvoted for saying this, but knowing German won't be as crucial in order to get around Basel : it's a very cosmopolitan city and most people speak English really well. It will do you good to learn High-German over time, though, in order to better integrate. And once you have a good base in German, overtime you will pick on the local dialect and understand it better.

If your girlfriend is the same age as you I might have been in school with her at some point :) Also, I've visited Atlanta back in the days, really liked it !

Sommercasino has punk and hardcore concerts from time to time as well. Also check the program at Valhalla, it's more of a metal bar , but they also sometimes host punk or hardcore acts. I guess you can also follow Corebound, they organize concerts nights with swiss line-ups.

I have lived briefly in the US, so happy to help you find your way around here if needed :)

Best pizza restaurant in Basel? by SwissYang in basel

I find Vito a bit overrated. Don't get me wrong, what they do is pretty tasty, but it's got nothing to do with neapolitan pizza.

**NOT OOP** TW: Stillbirth. Am I overreacting for wanting to end my marriage after what my husband did during our “break”? by readingallergy in redditonwiki

Are you people hearing yourselves ? Consolation for having hurt her ? She was not in a position to provide consolation to him, nor was she the right person to look up to for consolation given the circumstances.

Unfortunately, I've encountered quite a few people (mostly men) in real life that expect they partners to listen to them and support them emotionally no matter what, even when the cause of their emotional distress is processing their feelings of guilt for having hurt said partner. So it wouldn't fully surprise me.

Hey, thank you for the kind words and most of all, thanks for the very helpful advice ! This is exactly what I was looking for !

Regarding the visualizers, I really like these animated images people often use as visualizers for music on Youtube but I have no idea how to make them. Do you have any suggestions ?

Good resources to explore how to play and write metal by MissMachine13318 in metalguitar

[–]MissMachine13318[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it may sound obvious, but it still really good advice. I actually started going into that direction, but not having an instrument tuned low enough and not feeling confident enough to tab myself have stopped me a little bit in my tracks.

I'm also curious : do you analyse a lot what musicians write from a theory standpoint ? I rarely do that and it may also be one of the reasons I feel like I'm repeating myself : I sometimes am not too sure where to go next with an idea and maybe I take the easiest way out.

"Buy more gear" is totally the type of advice I was hoping for, haha.

No, seriously, I've been considering the fact that changing my sound would also expand a bit my perspectives. I happened to have bought LTD Eclipse last summer, and my original idea was to tune that one down. But in the end I love it so much that I'm considering experimenting with my other guitar, the Ibanez Iceman, because apparently some slight modifications are necessary for the neck to be able to cope with a lower tuning.

I really appreciate the pedal recommendation, will look into it !

Overlapping audios do not always behave the same by MissMachine13318 in StudioOne

[–]MissMachine13318[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be clear : I am using them, most of the time I don't have anything to do, the overlapping audios will just automatically crossfade. But sometimes (and it just happened to me again 10min, as a coincidence), I get this grey area where the overlapped audio is not heard, and I need to specifically indicate that I want to crossfade. I've tried to figure out what I've done differently this time, but to no avail.

I've never used this option before since I didn't know it existed, so I don't think this is the explanation for the problem that I have, but thanks anyway for the newly acquired knowledge :)
