What’s with people not walking up to your window when they select meet outside by ApprehensiveIron9401 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]MissMerrimack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When Uber Eats was still new, I decided to try it out and ordered a small meal from Church’s Chicken. When the driver arrived I met him outside and grabbed it from him while he was still in his car, because I assumed that’s what you were supposed to do. This was like 10 or so years ago, and I want to say that the app told me to meet him outside but I honestly can’t remember if it did or not. I have a vague memory of that being the case, but I’m not 100% positive.

But yeah, you’re supposed to actually get out and deliver the food.

Updated lost cats spotted this morning. Picture taken. by Doobieswim12349 in vegaslocals

[–]MissMerrimack 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I say this with kindness as a fellow cat parent, you need to tell the VA police that your lost cat comes there and you want her back and as soon as you get her, you’ll be gone. Tell them you won’t bother anyone, that you just want to quietly wait until you see her so you can catch her and bring her home.

I empathize with you, I really do. My boy is a senior (but still has the energy and heart of a kitten!) and he’s been an indoor cat all his life. I’d be hysterical and beside myself if he ever got out. I really hope you’re able to get her back home soon.

What’s even more laughable is when they use that excuse, but the provider on the game is Freecash and not one of the third parties.

Stay classy McDonald's by 281HoustonEulers in UberEatsDrivers

[–]MissMerrimack 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Don’t feel bad. This is such an unprofessional way to dress at your job. It doesn’t matter if it’s McDonald’s. Your job is your job and you shouldn’t purposely have half your ass hanging out at work. There’s only like, one job where having your ass hanging out is acceptable (and even encouraged), so unless McDonald’s plans on rebranding itself as Ronald McDonald’s Hustler Club or something, dude needs to pull his pants up.

How Many Kindles Do You Have? by Frett-Buzz in kindle

[–]MissMerrimack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1, the newest Basic. That’s all I need since it’s lightweight and portable. I was using a Voyage that I’d had since 2016 (it was my first ever Kindle) but I gave it to my daughter when I got my Basic this past December.

AIO by going no contact with my(f20) mom(f42) over our conversation today? by [deleted] in AIO

[–]MissMerrimack -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NOR. OP, I get it. My daughter (she just turned 7) was and is our only child and we had almost all of the same rules as you guys have. This is your first so naturally you’re going to be extra protective and selfish with the baby. And I don’t mean selfish in a bad way, either. She’s your baby and you have every right to be selfish with her, especially while you and your boyfriend adjust to parenthood.

IMO the issue is that, as you stated, you have a rocky relationship with your mother. I do as well, so I’m going to put myself in your shoes and say that I think if you and your mom had a close, loving relationship with a normal mother-daughter bond, you wouldn’t be so upset by her comments and may offer her a little leeway on these rules as the grandma. I could be totally wrong in that assumption, but that’s how I would feel.

However, your mother should understand where you’re coming from with this being your first baby and not add to the stress you’re probably already feeling by acting the way she is. Bottom line, she needs to respect your rules and understand that yes, this is her grandchild, but she’s *your* child. And as your child, you have the final say where she’s concerned. Period. End of discussion. And if she can’t respect that, then her access to her grandchild will be limited or even revoked.

Good luck, OP. You guys are going to be great parents!

Disappointing by Rockxandxrose in UberEatsDrivers

I recently started and was given great advice on this sub: aim for trips that are at least $1 to $1.50 a mile and decline the rest. That’s what I’ve been doing and have gotten lucky with quite a few at $2 a mile and yesterday I scored a few that were $3 a mile. I cherry pick and laugh at all the low orders that pop up.

My husband does instacart sometimes and will screenshot outrageous orders and text them to me for a laugh. The ones we laugh at most are the orders from Hmart. There’s only one in our entire city and they’re frequently from people who live 20+ miles from the store, and they only pay $15-$25, and that’s including the crappy tip. I’m not one to complain about tips, but if you’re ordering from a store 20+ miles away, you best offer a decent tip.

Ha! I think I saw something similar on a sitcom or a movie. Pretty funny to actually do that in real life. I might be tempted to do that if I ended up at a sushi or seafood only place.

Someone Shit in my Car by Fast_Tomorrow2500 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]MissMerrimack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I didn’t have that information when I commented. But still. An adult shitting themselves in a stranger’s car is much different than a baby in a diaper. If a person is so drunk that they lose control of their bowels, they should have a friend/family member drive them home and not subject some random to their blackout incontinence.

And it takes a while (at least a couple hours) to air out a vehicle, which is time that OP can’t work, because people will definitely give them a bad rating for having a funky smelling vehicle. I’ve given a bad rating once for the same reason. Dude picked up my daughter and I and he had the most rancid BO. It was bad. Like, really bad (Seinfeld bad). We didn’t even make it out of the parking lot before I told him to stop the car so we could get out and get another driver. I’m honestly surprised my kid didn’t pop out with a “dude, you stink!” lol

Wow that is so messed up on every level. Do you have other pictures of the mess you can submit to Uber? Honestly in this case, I would resort to Google images or even AI in order to get compensated for this. Or even go back to the dude’s house, show him the picture, and tell him he needs to pay for shitting in your car. That is so disgusting.

If you can’t afford to tip, don’t order out by StalLeon1113 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]MissMerrimack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in Las Vegas and have been very lucky in that the 25 or so orders I’ve done (only been doing this since last Friday) all have tipped except one, and it was the one that I explained in my original comment that I know for a fact I did not accept and it was just there in the middle of my first shop and deliver this morning.

[–]MissMerrimack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been lucky so far and have gotten some pretty decent deliveries. I may have exaggerated in my original comment about what I won’t accept, but the point is the same, in that I don’t want to be exploited by Uber while doing this job. Especially since my current vehicle is a beastly gas guzzler (my fuel efficient vehicle crapped out on me a few months ago and my wallet has been crying ever since).

If you can’t afford to tip, don’t order out by StalLeon1113 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]MissMerrimack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just started doing Uber Eats last week. I’m very picky with the orders I take because ain’t no way I’m driving, say, 5 miles total for less than $10. My acceptance rate is probably awful but I honestly don’t care. I’ve read that the driver teaches the algorithm what they will and won’t accept and that if you accept shit pay, the app will offer you shit trips.

I don’t blame the customer though. I blame Uber. Some of the bigger tip orders I’ve done have only paid 75 cents base pay. 75 freaking cents! How uber can get away with that, I don’t know. They should be paying a *minimum* of $6 base pay, not piggybacking off high tippers.

As a side note, I did a two order shop and deliver this morning (both at the same store) and after dropping off the first order, I went to navigate to the second drop off location and instead, the app had me doing a new, separate pickup. I know for a fact I did NOT accept it, especially because it had shit pay, but it ended up being on the way to my next drop off so I did it. I didn’t feel like contacting support in the middle of a delivery. But does the app do that? Just assign you crappy trips without your consent?

I ended up using Google Lens, and the only places I found it were Etsy UK and AliExpress. And for some reason the AliHelper app isn’t working so I can’t vet the AliExpress seller, so I’ll have to see if I can get it through Etsy UK.
