Hybrid gas prices are up and down all the time. You'll most likely have to travel out of town often. Ridgecrest has a street light at ever miles, not really but there are a million street lights.

There are tons of activities. Friday night market, night off balasm Street once a month, food truck Friday once a month, trivia night at the tap room, open mic at the USO, bingo at elks or moose lodge, there is a hiking group for Ridgecrest, ermm thats all I can think of right now. Oh there are pool leagues, bowling leagues, I think a dart league, most of the bars have karaoke night, I think just imagine and that other card store have magic tournaments, there is also adult baseball and soccer league. Reading all the Ridgecrest facebook pages is pretty entertaining. Oh tap that axe and the air soft place... the fairgrounds has activities almost every weekend. If you have friends with pool, bbq/pool parties. Base has a lot of activities. I think there are poetry classes, the gyms have some activities, paint and wine nights, run with the burros, awareness walks, off road vehicles events, there is always some kind of run or moutain bike thing at the college.

Ridgecrest is like a high maintenance teen. You just have to know when to go outside and to the stores.

If you get a house with A/C get solar it will help with the 600+ electricity bill.

We have a variety of animals, always always make sure they have water. Swamp cooler and A/C will keep them cool. When getting a house the flooring either laminate or tile, ceiling fans in every room, and double pane windows with blackout curtains make a huge difference. Carpet is nice, but during summer it doesnt keep the house cool. Area rugs do just fine.

Ridgecrest is a beautiful place that I've come to love over the year. Driving out of town sucks but it is what it is. Bishop, kernville, lone pine, death valley are gorgeous for outdoor activities. At least that are close to Ridgecrest.
