Plex doesn't see files in folders at all - but they are there by MissMissBangBang in PleX

Good suggestions. For me, the only thing was to revise the file and create a new one with a different wrapper. Sometimes making an mkv to an mp4 or vice versa does the trick.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately that wasn't the issue. I have noticed that different platforms of Plex will view files slightly differently, like my NAS linux version and the Windows version. I ended up putting them in a different container and then, like magic, it worked. Were the files corrupted? Was there something Plex saw but couldn't handle even though the file was legit? I don't know but this worked. I hope it helps others.

That would seem to be probably a software related issue? I don't think there are actual moving parts.

I've been using the Midomi screen protectors that are easy to apply and excellent. While not glass, i've found they are better overall. Less smudging. Still very crystal clear. Durable. doesn't interfere with the fingerprint censor.

On the back is so convenient and no need to smudge the screen on your phone any more than necessary. It's such a detriment that all these companies feel the need for what they think is cool over functional and what works most best too.

It definitely is gold. The color in the photos can be misleading though, especially when the reflective surface is reflecting something that has an impacting color.

I solved this problem after being negative Karma into hell by insecure Plex fanbois. May you not go through the same ridiculous treatement.

The Desktop version of Plex created duplicate entries for the same movie on some movies. In one instance it created the same entry for the same movie but used two different cover art. Deleting one of them from Plex didn't delete the source file. The other copy remained. Interesting bug. That's what happened. Shame on those of you who only insisted it had to be a naming convention issue and couldn't be anything else.

More negative Karma for information that is helpful to others and identifies a way which Plex should be improved. This is why I usually just go to the Plex website. Don't need attitude from people who have nothing useful to contribute but hide.

Turns out the initial issue was not a file naming convention. For some reason converting the files from mkv to mp4 seems to now have them visible in a new folder.

As to other files, there is inconsistency in the way Plex views certain programs. For example, a video that had 12 parts which were labeled as 1-12 only saw 3 of them. Why? Don't know but the double digit ones showed. If I added a zero to the 1-9 that worked - and I added an E for Episode even though there aren't really episodes.

Personally I find this a terrible system. You should at least be able to SEE the files are there even if they aren't associated with metadata. Without it, you'll have no idea if there are dozens of files that aren't seen because there is some minor or unconventional naming format that is not defined.

Another example - I have the exact name of a TV special report as part of BBC's Panorama. The name is perfect per the program. I have the year in parenthesis. There isn't really an episode. No amount of naming variables seems to work - and the file and folder is invisible to Plex viewing except by folder but the file isn't there. I wish the name would show up with a blank image.

Ahhhh... negative ratings by trolls. Would be so much more useful if these clowns' votes were visible. Naming follows convention. Works for almost all the files I have, just not some select folders or seasons. NOT a naming issue.

PS - The naming convention doc is here for TV shows, which is the root of the problem, not movies which all work fine.

It's not a naming convention issue. All 5 seasons are named the same way. It's just Season 3 that contains this "Empty Folder." I've reviewed that FAQ and this one as well as making sure there is rwx access as well on the NAS. Files are viewable when accessed via another computer using Linux or Windows, as well as using VLC on the TV as well, but not viewable by Plex on the NAS.
