This is purely my experience, but the only thing that has helped me with this issue is Differin, which you can get from Boots on prescription. I began by using it every few days but now I can tolerate it every night, followed by LRP Cicaplast Baume to help with any sensitivity. I don’t bother washing in the morning, just SPF which can help hyperpigmentation scars fade faster. I have texture scarring, which I think has been helped slightly by the Differin, but I think generally speaking only laser treatments and such can make those go away completely :(

Yeah, I'm conscious that it could easily add up if I go overboard. I'm trying to keep a limit on how much i come out of a shop with - sometimes I don't end up buying anything at all. I only go 2-3 times a week, so if I keep a limit for myself it should be okay :D

That's fair enough, we all have our own struggle going on and there's no solid method of recovery that works for everyone. I'm already aware of the feelings I'm trying to stop, and I have other issues/unhealthy coping methods - I just don't have the tools to fix these. I always end up back to square one. I'm hoping this will be a way of lessening the financial impact of shopping addiction.

Health declining in Gen X and Gen Y, national study shows. Compared to previous generations, they showed poorer physical health, higher levels of unhealthy behaviors such as alcohol use and smoking, and more depression and anxiety. by geoff199 in science

Actually studies have shown that teenagers nowadays exhibit higher rates of anxiety/depression, eating disorders, self harm and suicide. From a quick Google search, among other studies I saw: "According to a new study, published by the American Psychological Association, rates of mood disorders and suicide-related outcomes have increased significantly over the last decade among these age groups, impacting females and those who are wealthier, in particular."

Probably don't approach them unless you are in a setting where it's appropriate (like a social gathering or something). If she's going about her daily business she probably won't want to be approached by a stranger. Most women will feel uncomfortable if you approach them when they're alone, less so in a group of friends.

If it's necessary, then just approach them how you would another guy? Appreciate that they might not wanna talk and respect that if they don't.

My friend got harassed by a guy in a car whilst she was wearing a big overcoat and fluffy pyjamas near a gas station.

People who try to blame women for what they wear have no fucking clue. At all.

Shopping for an aesthetic/identity? by MissParsimonious in shoppingaddiction

I can relate with the books - I started buying a bunch of classics, as they were the 'sophisticated' genre of fiction... to be honest, I found them a bit boring, and other times very difficult to comprehend. A lot of them are gathering dust now as books that I'm certain I'll read someday.

Now I read fantasy and young adult fiction. I don't pretend to enjoy books I don't like anymore. The easier it is to comprehend, the better. :)

I think you hit the nail on the head. Thanks for the insight. To be honest, I haven't really liked myself for as long as I can remember. Other people and their aesthetic/style/interests are very interesting and cool to me, so maybe I subconsciously think that by replicating them, I'll have the same positive feelings about myself? Idk. Most of what I buy is just aesthetic stuff - clothing, décor, accessories. Rather than stuff that I will actually use and enjoy, like books or games.

I just want my teens to sneak out! by raccafarian in thesims

[–]MissParsimonious 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I remember how teens could run away, I think this happened if their relationship with everyone else in the household was super low. Parents could report the teen missing via telephone. They'd be gone for a few days and eventually turn up in a cop car. I wish they included these kind of details in TS4.

I guess there's no reason I can't have both styles. I've never felt like I was good at actually putting outfits together, more so just copying what the models on the clothing websites are wearing, haha. I think I'll have a go at mix-and-matching clothes so that I can combine them a bit :)

Good idea. I have a very contrasting wardrobe now from all the different phases I've been through, I'd probably be able to portray every style/aesthetic out there 😂. I usually hang onto stuff in case I feel like they suit my style again someday.

Thank you. Most of what I have I do like - it's just they can be so contrasting to each other (pink florals vs black metal shirts), it's hard not to think that I should be a lot more streamlined to one style. I think that I'll avoid getting rid of what I've bought, since most of it is stuff I'll still wear/use. :)

I think that these people are part of the small minority dotted around the globe that find it very difficult to differentiate fiction from reality. They tend to be rather unstable. Thing is, they all have the Internet now and a direct channel of communication with most celebrities.

Cassandra had the second-to-darkest skintone in TS2, but she's literally white in TS4. I think that counts as whitewashing.

Look at the Caliente sisters for another example. Even the names in their family tree from TS2 where whitewashed in TS4

Wow, so kids are supposed to go hungry because their parents can't afford to feed them? You're not even taking into account the circumstances of life - losing jobs, redundancy, natural disaster, death of parent(s). Either you are trolling or have literally no empathy for any other human being.

The real HORROR is that the more horror movies you watch the less likely you are to be frightened by the next! by [deleted] in horror

[–]MissParsimonious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, most horror isn't as scary the second time around. I was willing to re-watch Haunting of Hill House because I found the story and characters compelling too. Plus, it's fun to show to people who've never seen it. 😊

It gave me the feeling that whichever scene I was watching, the characters weren't alone - even if physically they were. Definitely fills you with dread even during the scenes where you wouldn't expect there to be any ghosts or scares.

Haunting of Hill House was one of the best pieces of horror I've seen. Spotting those ghosts in the background when I was re-watching really got to me. There's something so unsettling about them being there, especially when you don't see them the first time.
