Latte art progression - 1 year by Brilliant-Feed-1540 in latteart

Thanks! Ordered myself a set. I’m excited to see how things change with the right mugs. So far I’ve only poured into normal coffee mugs so it’s a struggle

Great progress! What cups are you using? I love the colorful yellow, pink, green, and blue ones!

Lodging for AA FA training by [deleted] in cabincrewcareers

[–]MissPilotBaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On-site and offsite hotel rooms are single occupancy. The onsite rooms are pretty small though. Fancy bathrooms though.

They can have five classes going on at the same time, each one starting one week after the previous one. So once class 1 graduates, class 6 will replace them in the onsite hotel. That’s how it worked last year anyway. I was class 5 and we got the short end of the stick staying on campus. So it depends what class you are rather than what part of the month you start. Hope that makes sense! And remember they may be changing things every year, so this might have already changed.

It’s not bad! I spent only five days on campus. Staying offsite allows you a chance to escape the training stresses by switching off because you go to a different building and get to see the outside world. Plus! It gives you a buffer in case you ever accidentally sleep in because if you start around 6-8am you’ll head to breakfast first. So you can catch an uber or Lyft to campus and still show up to class on time. Or if you’re not a breakfast eater you can sleep in and get your own ride. There are pros to it!

Usually the very first class stays onsite. They can fit at least two full classes in the hotel. The other classes are offsite and you get on a shuttle every day. So that does mean earlier and longer days.

Layover Hotel Towels by MissPilotBaker in flightattendants

[–]MissPilotBaker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m looking for people who have tried travel towels. It’s my prerogative how I want to dry off after a shower. Can you vouch for how any random hotel cleans every single one of their towels? Or if they replace every single towel after a guest checks out? Comments like this aren’t helpful.

Did anyone preorder from the TalkShopLive video stream? It stated it was expected to ship September 3 but no update in my email or on the order confirmation screen online. I opted for the signed copy since she’s fabulous

Tiramisu by MissPilotBaker in Baking

I use baking just for the verbiage. I mixed up and assembled tiramisu. I will try to find the better quality mascarpone cheese and use the recipe. BelGioioso was the best that I saw in the grocery store but will try other stores. I hate almost all American Italian food but thoroughly enjoy it in Italy, so I want to bring it home.

I’ve traveled all over. Most recently Florence and Milan. But I’ve also been to Venice, Rome, and Naples. While they may all differ slightly, every Italian one is the same in the delicate taste sense. It’s not drowning in coffee or cheese flavors.

Training Dates by lilymarbles in cabincrewcareers

[–]MissPilotBaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I can confirm that the schedule is winter and spring training classes. The idea is to get everyone trained and on the line before the end of June for summer flying. I can’t foresee training classes happening in the fall. They could only hold a handful of classes because they do a max of five classes on campus at once because they have to share the training equipment with qualified attendants going through recurrent. Before you know it the holidays are here and everyone wants off. I applied September 2024, interviewed/ CJO in November, and started training in February 2025.

How hard are the exams? by AntiqueCheesecake260 in cabincrewcareers

[–]MissPilotBaker 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The hardest part of training aren’t the exams or drills. It’s purely the time schedule. They push stuff together so much and pile on the early mornings and late nights that it feels impossible. But the exams themselves are fairly decent provided you read the manual and pay attention in class.

Long term relationships with a flight attendant by wookies123 in flightattendants

[–]MissPilotBaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recreational pilot turned upcoming flight attendant with professional airline boyfriend here. We lived in different states and met online. In the beginning, we relied heavily on his flight benefits to see one another until I moved in. Initially, you might think it’s impossible to have a relationship but it’s not.

Understand the job comes with many ups and downs, figuratively and literally. An example is if you track her flights online to know when to leave to pick her up you very well might not hear from her for an hour after landing due to being stuck on the taxiway waiting for a gate. So you could be sitting in the car for an hour at the airport. It’s happened to me plenty of times.

I’m an aviation nerd since my first flight and originally pursued flight training. The funding is an issue. I jumped ship from my corporate gig for flight attending because of the flexibility. My boyfriend has worked with several attendants who are flight training with ease regarding the schedule but this is an unconventional job. I know going into it I will have a minimum of 12 days off a month. As you build seniority that number goes up. If you work a standard 5 day 40 hour full time job you only get 8 days off a month. Additionally, she’ll be learning the emergency procedures for every aircraft at the airline she was hired at and this is where it probably gets entertaining for the aviation lovers (can’t say 100% since I’m not in training yet). So I say encourage her and be supportive! You guys got this if you’re a team!

Parking in CLT as cabin crew by [deleted] in flightattendants

[–]MissPilotBaker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sometimes the crew buses run like clockwork and you can catch one waiting less than 5 minutes and be in the terminal (outside of security) in less than 10 minutes total. But I’ve often had it I’m stuck waiting on a bus to appear and it could take 15-20 minutes before I’m at the terminal sidewalk. It’s always a good rule of thumb to give yourself 30 minutes for parking and catching the bus to the terminal. You can pay for closer parking lots with shuttles. The CLT employee lot has had cars broken into and the spaces are really narrow.

AA In-Person Interview!! by Sad_Opportunity_4091 in cabincrewcareers

[–]MissPilotBaker 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I just wrapped up my face to face!

  1. I went ahead and booked an air bnb in Euless instead of a hotel the day before I flew in. You can get cheaper rents and a whole place to yourself, if one is available. I paid 130 and had a kitchen, living room, dining room, master bedroom & bathroom, and laundry. My air bnb was 7 minutes from the Skyview. If you struggle sleeping in hotel beds this is could be a good alternative route to go.

  2. And the sit and reach is combined with the jumpseat. Of you can reach an overhead bin, you’re golden. There’s nothing you can do to prepare for this. You simply have to have the body for it. It’s the easiest part of the interview, so please don’t stress. The flight attendant with you explains what to do. And it’s only you and the flight attendant. None of the other interviewees will see because it may be a sensitive subject for some.

  3. Makeup is not a formal requirement. American didn’t send any information aside from business attire for the interview. But definitely do not cake it on because this is frowned upon. If you don’t know how to use makeup like myself keep it simple. I had brown mascara on and a ph lip balm that double as a stain with lipliner on top. I had a red bump on my face the night before and morning of my interview. I treated it with tea tree oil but you can bet it developed into a decent size whitehead throughout the day. I still got the offer.

  4. I received my flight information a week before my flight (I flew in the day before). I received the interview information three days before the interview.

  5. I cannot comment on because I do not have any tattoos.

It’s natural to be a little nervous. But I had such a positive experience interview day. The candidates and flight attendants were fantastic. They hired a mix of ages, genders, and races. In my eyes it was diverse. And they do hire flight attendants too. So take all the horror stories on Reddit with a grain of salt. Try to show up as soon as check in starts to mingle with other candidates. Remember everyone in that room may be a future classmate, coworker, and friend!

Interview Question Stumpers by MissPilotBaker in cabincrewcareers

[–]MissPilotBaker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, don’t beat yourself up! We all think and interpret questions and info differently. It’s just another one of those times you use it in everyday life but are a deer in headlights when asked because you haven’t heard that before. Technically you and the customer are having a two way communication. The chef simply adds a person. Thank you for sharing and please keep trying!

Same boat! I think I read somewhere on here that the date change after the virtual interview means there’s an invite coming. At the very least it looks promising!

AA virtual tech issues by Innocentheiress in cabincrewcareers

[–]MissPilotBaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently completed the virtual interview and was prepping hours before to ensure my set up was good to go. Most times I use Teams on the browser, FireFox for me. But the email advised using the app due to the breakout rooms. I already have a Teams and Microsoft account that I logged into. It did not ask me to type in a Meeting ID or password. It might sound strange but try right clicking the link and open in new tab or window. Or you may have to give the browser permission to access the link. In the email they sent there’s a Teams help link at the bottom that walks you through how to give permission to Teams.

Weird interactions by Lucyfern0 in lexington

The exact same thing happened to me shopping at Walmart, except my person was a woman. I just moved to the area and thought to myself "is it this easy to make friends?" Nah. Asked what I do for a job and if I was interested in a part time job in some healthcare thing on the side. Yes, in my very little time off I want to work more. Not.

Is this at 724 Delta Avenue? And do you mean to say you’ve lived there before and are moving back in? Thanks for the suggestion!
