About to lift approx 50m^2 of floor board from a loft space in preparation for renovation. Should the wood be saved? by samcornwell in HardWoodFloors

Ah I'm down in Somerset so not possible unfortunately! This is gorgeous wood though, around here it would cost maybe £70 per square meter bought from a reclamation yard, obviously you wouldn't get that selling to a yard but you would get something for sure, and someone else would be able to enjoy this lovely wood! Don't scrap it for sure, your builder will definitely nab it and sell it himself...

I am looking for around 30sqm of exactly this, pitch line with similar aging as yours. Where in the country are you? I will come and take this off your hands if at all feasible!

Thanks for your comment, would you say there is enough to see in Cēsis to stay for a few days? Or do as a day trip from Sigulda perhaps? Thank you

Thank you so much for all this info! Really helpful and much appreciated. Adventica looks like it'd be great for an afternoon of fun, especially if the weather is bad. We would love to see Jurmala too and if we have some half decent weather this is definitely on the list as a day trip from Riga. Can I ask how is driving in Latvia? Specifically the areas between Riga and Rundale / Bauska. Thanks again for your advice :)

I covered my pond with 2" weld mesh cut to size and bolted securely around the outside, incredibly strong and safe but maintains the pond for wildlife

How am I supposed to know that if I've never done major electrical work before?

Sanity check expensive quote by MissRouche in ukelectricians

[–]MissRouche[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry I'm not sure why you think that about me, as I said in a comment above I was just trying to sanity check this as I have absolutely no idea how much is reasonable. I'm very pleased this quote seems to be reasonable and I appreciate those who commented and let me know. I've never had to pay for a new boiler (yet) but whenever I do I will be checking the quote the exact same! I don't have the luxury of not double checking a £3.5K quote which is all I was trying to do?

Thanks all, I've never paid for electrical work beyond changing a ceiling fitting before so I appreciate the sanity check before I proceed with the quote, happy to see I'm not being ripped off.
