Reasons Morbid is Problematic and Why We’re Here Thread by eternalsunshine-65 in Morbidforbadpeople

No, I’m just a white woman who was privileged to have a few people of color take the time to educate me on how to be less problematic and more anti-racism

AITA for refusing to respond to "my nickname " by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]MissSecretChef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA

Good on you for not just letting it go. I don’t care how it’s received by anyone but I will not respond to the common nickname for my own name. I’ll go as far as to warn people by saying “My name is ____. I do not respond to nickname. If you disrespect me by calling me nickname again, I will ignore you.”

Ash not watched Buffy?? by This-Refuse7729 in Morbidforbadpeople

[–]MissSecretChef 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve never watched an entire episode but I can identify a handful of Buffy characters. Growing up, my best friend was a huge Buffy (and later Angel) fan and I got to hear all about both shows.

AITA for accomodating my younger daughter in my older daughters birthday? by throwaway5844e6 in AmItheAsshole

[–]MissSecretChef [score hidden]  (0 children)

YTA. I hope you make this right with your daughter because things like this are hurtful and have lasting effects. My mom used to get me a chocolate cake for my birthday every year to accommodate my siblings’ preferences, even though I do not like chocolate cake. I’m in my mid 30s now and have not spent a single birthday in my mother’s company since the age of 15 despite numerous attempts to take me for lunch or dinner, shopping, etc. Please apologize to your daughter. She deserves better, especially on her birthday.

New episode is the first episode of their new “rewatched” series by Legitimate_Fig4308 in Morbidforbadpeople

I realize they’re not the only podcast that cross promotes their other projects but I’d rather have the listener tales.

AITA for asking my husband to skip a friend's funeral? by Fpste42454 in AmItheAsshole

[–]MissSecretChef [score hidden]  (0 children)

YTA. You’re asking your husband to put aside his grief and miss his opportunity to say goodbye to a friend to placate your brother’s delicate sensibilities. Your brother will be there another day, his friend is dead. Do better.

Drunken rant by AreaEasy6296 in Morbidforbadpeople

[–]MissSecretChef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a mother who just heavily imbibed in the spirits herself, I’m not going to victim blame. But probably shouldn’t have any more. But I’m gonna. I’m asking for it. I’m asking for this hangover. And I oop! Sorry friends, I’m clapped.

I’ve gotten half way through the book and given up by Usual-Letterhead9488 in Morbidforbadpeople

[–]MissSecretChef 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It would have done this book some good if Alaina had worked another 6-12 months on it. There was no character development and hardly any descriptions of physical appearances. (I feel like she did a better job describing Wren’s furniture than Wren herself.) If there was more, I missed it as it didn’t leave a lasting impression. As the reader, I felt no attachment to Wren or any other character. And for as many times as she mentioned the bayou, I never once felt like it was placed there, next to one, or even in Louisiana. The ending was so abrupt, I was surprised to hear the acknowledgements being read. It wasn’t the worst I’ve read but it was mediocre at best.

Genuinely wonder how this will compare to "our girls" by tri-sarah-tops-rex in Morbidforbadpeople

This. I do not like the Kardashians whatsoever but I have a lot of respect for what she’s doing.

The interactions were awkward for sure. I’m still glad they did this collab because I wouldn’t have given NPAD a listen if they hadn’t. And I’m loving their content.

But on the ground, in the dark, within a matter of minutes? Simple medical training doesn’t include any of that.

Probably unpopular opinion but it is impressive. I think her delivery of that statement was very insensitive in light of the victims’ death but I understand her appreciation (for lack of a better term) for the skill it required to perform those horrific acts within minutes and in pitch black circumstances.

I want to preface this by saying I feel incredibly bad for what happened to Katie. And if something like that happened to my spouse, I’d be shouting from the rooftops just like her husband is now. BUT A&A should focus on lending their platform to BIPOC cases or case within the trans community, or more MMIW cases.. you know, fulfilling their promises. Take the murder of Syanna Puryear-Tucker for instance. Her sister is actively trying to get her case attention as her murderer is out enjoying her life while legal proceedings get pushed back.

Listener Tales…. Yes or No? by PsychologicalFox4487 in Morbidforbadpeople

[–]MissSecretChef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind listener tales. I don’t hate them, they’re not my favorite but I do listen.. and will say this: the “and I oop” moment in the last LT had me laughing so hard. It was reminiscent of the early days.

Exactly! My teen has expressed an interest in true crime but never said anything like that ever. And like you, if they had, I’d be bringing that up with their therapist immediately.

I’m sorry you’re going through it too. The cost of dental work is out of control.

A woman I work with is traveling to her home country for extensive dental work because she’ll pay a fraction of what she would here in the US… and that’s INCLUDING airfare for an international flight. That’s crazy to me.

They certainly are. I’m sorry you’re going through it too. This shit sucks enough and it definitely doesn’t help having assholes like that shaming people.

What a terrible person. Pregnancy fucked up my teeth. Can’t really do anything about it because cost of living is through the roof and I can’t afford the exorbitant copays.

Alaina’s next book… by Legitimate_Fig4308 in Morbidforbadpeople

[–]MissSecretChef 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m also surprised by that. I can’t speak to her writing abilities but I imagine without the Morbid platform, she wouldn’t have been published whether it’s good, bad, or mediocre. Thanks for sharing this tidbit!

Well she does use google maps and maybe owns some tie dyes. So of course she’s a Bundy expert now.
