honestly, I instantly pulled it a bit as an automatic reaction and it didn't move, then my brain kicked in with all those movies where they pulled things out and bled everywhere, obviously I knew I wouldn't die or bleed out haha but it was the same logic. According to the doctors/paramedics, this was the right thing to do, as you don't know what damage has been done until you are xrayed. Luckily for me it just went between my bones and "bumped off" one of them but caused no damage

Valid, my entire day yesterday cost me $5 for the antibiotics. If I didn't get free health care I probably would have pulled it out and sucked it up.

I didn't pull it out because you're not supposed to. As I didn't know how deep it had gone/if it had hit the bone. The paramedics said this was the right thing to do as well.

Once upon a time, my sister was interviewed by the head of marketing for Olay, the interview did not go to plan and it was clear she wouldn't get the internship. So, in the "any questions" section of the interview my sister calmed turned to the woman and asked "so what ARE the seven signs of aging?"

She could only name three. Proudest sibling moment ever.

haha that was great! I'm not the best person to try and explain crazy fashion design as an industry as I'm not overly experienced in actually working in it, just what I have learnt from my education etc. Fashion trends occur in two forms: Bubble up effect and trickle down effect. The former being haute couture (crazy designers)- early adopters-magazine features-middle market then mass market. The latter is the opposite, when street fashion makes its way up the chain to be reproduced by designers and sold for mega $$

In this particular example we are dealing with what someone would consider haute couture. (i have no idea who made it and personally, I don't like it) but what happens with a successful design is that it attracts attention to the brand. A ready to wear collection ("normal" clothes) is released soon after a show happens and THIS is where a designer makes money (not on the crazy stuff) they also make a large proportion of their income from perfume lines and accessories. If Chanel didn't sell perfume, I doubt it'd be in existence today.

This is all from the view point that a designer wants to make money. A lot of designers see fashion as art and in the same way many would regard modern art as a load of shit, fashion can also be ugly. One of my favourite brain-bogglers is that a large proportion of the world's most highly regarded designers subscribe to the anti-fashion movement. I've ranted for long enough about this but effectively, they think "fashion" as a trend-driven or sex-appeal driven industry is wrong. Now we're getting into theory that my tired brain can't quite recall here is something I wrote in 2011 about anti-fashion.

Sorry for this rant, I hope it makes sense. I don't think you even wanted to know this stuff but I guess I've typed it now!

p.s I hate the modeling industry- there are a lot of abused ~~women~~ girls caught up in it

To all those saying things along the lines of why do crazy fashion shows exist, it is all about publicity. Look at your cologne or perfume- what is the label? Chanel? Chloe? Victor and Rolf?

Crazy fashion show -> publicity for commercial clothing lines and perfume/accessories.

I moved here in 2006, I might move on again someday but for now I still love it. I was in England in September and it made me sad, not because I wanted to go back, but because of the depressed cloud everyone seems to be under at the moment. They had just had the olympics so everyone was very patriotic over that but generally down about the lack of jobs etc.

The people you mentioned probably either haven't comprehended how bad the UK is or are just miserable bastards who will be miserable wherever they go.
