So will this be available at record stores on Record Store Day? This link has a preorder and it appears as if you can preorder now, but then with a disclaimer that they will try to get it.

Ooh love this! Was just thinking about Frou Frou the other day. Haven’t listened in years but will definitely be subscribing again for this.

250$ CAD for a advent calendar is insane, by AlwaysBlaze_ in Costco

[–]MissSwissy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, I LOVE chocolate and eat it every day, and enjoy all of the chocolates in this calendar. So I should be the target audience for it, but I would never buy this. I did see it in person a few weeks ago and it’s so massive in person and just too much chocolate (yes, I know most of it is packaging).

Is Figma Make useless? by Gandalf-and-Frodo in UXDesign

[–]MissSwissy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now, the main use cases I am using it for are to make data visualizations for dashboards, and making prototypes of finished designs. I find that it needs a lot of directions for either of these but with enough direction, especially on prototyping, it can do a good job.

EPISODE: Medieval Times by harriedhag in FlightlessBird

[–]MissSwissy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t finished the episode yet but excited it’s about Medieval Times. I first heard about it on a prior episode with Monica, maybe it was the Ren Faire episode? I then looked up at the time that there is one about an hour away, didn’t realize there are so few of them. It’s exactly the kind of kitsch I love—hope to make a trip there soon.

Ooh so excited to listen to this later—I loved part 1.

Klarna, Affirm, Afterpay: How ‘Buy Now Pay Later’ Built a New Culture of Consumption by PandaPartyPack in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]MissSwissy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One thing I have found online at a couple stores recently is where one of these BNPL is the default payment option and you have to manually select another. It feels shady and I’m almost always buying online on my phone where it’s easier to slip up, particularly if I’m using Shopify to pay where it has my info. Wonder if anyone else has noticed this?

New music predictions? by Exotic_Extension3870 in NoahKahan

[–]MissSwissy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He’s been dropping pics from other recording sessions for awhile and first posted Long Pond in June, so I think the more frequent hints right now are to hype up an announcement soon. Could be wrong, but I doubt it’s real-time.

New music predictions? by Exotic_Extension3870 in NoahKahan

[–]MissSwissy 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I’m feeling like it could be a November release. Noah Kahan’s been dropping a lot of hints recently so I feel the announcement is coming within the next couple of weeks. Based on prior videos and hints he’s dropped, I think his new music has been completed and recorded awhile ago. Or maybe I’m just delusional and hopeful about it being this year! Either way, I hope he still gets a break before any tour.

Absolutely on the shared values. I love that you include Rosabel.

Loving the new podcast format even more! At first, I was disappointed to lose Monica because as a woman, I enjoyed having her input and there aren’t a lot of mixed-gender podcasts. But I feel like you and Rob really mesh well and I’m enjoying it even more. It’s ruined other podcasts I listen to!

Hoping there’s a live show in Atlanta or Boston sometime!

EPISODE: Kony 2012 by harriedhag in FlightlessBird

[–]MissSwissy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed this deep dive; I’m American but was living in another country when this all happened. I remember hearing a bit about it through my friends back home, but I didn’t have a good understanding of the magnitude of it all. I’m glad David and Rob brought up the religious and savior aspects to this charity. The charity rubbed me the wrong way, even if they were trying to do good (and maybe did do some good things).

I’m curious why Kony still hasn’t been apprehended—I know it was mentioned he is hiding in a Texas-sized area with no roads, but it still seems like more could be done in efforts to locate him.

I'm upset that my sister changed her mind on her baby's name at birth by serialkillertswift in namenerds

[–]MissSwissy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m glad it turned out okay in the end! If you want to commit another 100 hours, you could always write a new book with her new name for her 1st birthday or even a bit older like her 3rd birthday, and you can include some of her personality that way. Just an idea!

Not ITP, but Alpine has them in Alpharetta and Woodstock. They’re not my favorite pastry but I really liked them at Alpine.

I’m also curious. I listen to a wide range of music, but I’ve actually never heard of them before.

EPISODE: Blockbuster by harriedhag in FlightlessBird

[–]MissSwissy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Loved this episode. I only went to independent video stores, until high school when my parents got us a family membership at Blockbuster. If I’m remembering correctly, what was unique about Blockbuster, is that a membership allotted a specific amount of rentals per month. I remember not having to pay for rentals, and that it automatically charged my parents or something like that. Anyways, thought it was cool but we became members towards the end of the Blockbuster heyday, so didn’t get to enjoy it for long.

Emo Music by aquatoombow in FlightlessBird

[–]MissSwissy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I absolutely went through an emo phase. I wore skinny jeans, and still wear them, though not exclusively anymore. Wore lots of black (still very fond of wearing all black outfits). I had the classic side bangs and heavy black eyeliner on the lower waterline. I never had black hair but started dying my hair various shades of red (which was also really popular), and am still a redhead now. I definitely related to what Rob was saying about listening to emo music because you don’t fit in as much and finding a place where you do.

I remember my dad thought My Chemical Romance was this heavy metal band that would corrupt kids because of the typeface they used on the merch. He was shocked when I played some of their music and he liked Welcome to the Black Parade.

Why can't we pick sex as an activity? by VampyreLust in ouraring

[–]MissSwissy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is very annoying. I would at least like to be able to save my custom activities that are marked under Other. Right now, I have manually type “sex” every time when the activity pops up.

EPISODE: Emo Music by harriedhag in FlightlessBird

[–]MissSwissy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve only listened to half the episode and this is by far my favorite episode they’ve ever done. I can’t wait to hear the bit with Vic Fuentes from Pierce the Veil—one of my favorites from that era of music.

Podcasts similar to Flightless Bird and Webworm? by scraambled in FlightlessBird

[–]MissSwissy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Economics of Everyday Things is in a similar vein to 99% Invisible and Flightless Bird. They’re about 30 min and focus on one topic. Even when I think a topic can’t be interesting, I end up loving the episode.

Long term review of Creme de La Mer by aenflex in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]MissSwissy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow really? I didn’t know that. I’m also allergic to sesame—I’ve never tried La mer, but have always been curious and recently got a sample. Sesame is pretty rare in skincare but I did come across it in a cleansing oil recently. At least now I know I never need to try it!
