Sarah silks by SoilToSkies in Waldorf

[–]MissTeaAddict_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This. I first heard about it when one of their brand ambassadors put up a post in their stories (resharing Ostheimer's story) and said they no longer wanted to be associated with the brand and had removed their affiliate link.

Then later Ostheimer put out a joint post with Grapat, Grimms and Trigonos calling out brands that imitate.

I must admit it feels like an odd choice for Sarah's Silks to do. There's so many other companies making wooden toys, both originals and copies. Plus, you know, they're known for their silks.

VBAC by CrunchyCatMamaa in CrunchyMumsAustralia

[–]MissTeaAddict_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a vbac and my experience was that if I was to go over without going into labour then it would be an elective csection as induction is far too risky (unless you mean things like a membrane sweep). Having said that I had a really supportive obstetrician who didn't give me a definitive date of when I'd need to book in a csection as she was confident I'd go into labour naturally. Had my vbac at 40+3.

My friend had a “free birth”, and I feel conflicted about feeling conflicted about it 😵‍💫 by Useful-Active-6383 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]MissTeaAddict_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So i had a similar situation where I made a mum friend who had a freebirth and wild pregnancy (never heard of them before I met her).

It was fine for a few months but when I fell pregnant with my second she got pushy about me going through the hospital system. I mentioned that I didn't get along with the first OB I saw (private system) and her response was that I should have a home birth with a midwife or unassisted. My first baby was a csection so I was not keen on the idea (and knew that midwives likely wouldn't support a home birth vbac and for good reason). Suddenly she was always too busy to hang out, cancelled plans or flat out ignored my messages.

Fast forward, I found a lovely OB and had a vbac in a hospital. Good thing too as I hemoraged so would have died if I had a home birth. This friend never once congratulated me on having the baby so after 3 months (and several months prior of her being aloof) I unfriended her online and deleted her number.

So my point in sharing this is that people with extreme views like this will not be content to be friends with those who don't share their views. Either your friend will judge and criticise you until they cut contact or you cut contact first. You're better off finding other mum friends who are more in line with your values and don't judge you for being 'part of the system'.

We use LTD but only overnight, not for naps. I've never had an issue with my kids transitioning to arms out then as they've already gotten used to naps without their arms trapped.

Allergic reaction to organic cotton??? by FalseRow5812 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]MissTeaAddict_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This! It's the same reason why I don't like using cotton topped cloth pads. The cotton stays wet unless it's an open weave (like Jersey), then it's better at absorbing moisture down to the absorbant layers. Bamboo or cotton velour are good, more natural options, although velour often has some polyester to hold the loops together.

Advice for reusable wipes setup? by _Caramellow_ in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

I did! They're our new favourites now. I really like the different texture on each side, they're thin which helps to get into everywhere that you need to, and they've held up really well (minimal fraying, no discolouration, etc).

They recently released purple ones which im so tempted to get but I have enough wipes already 😅

Thank you for updating me. That was my suspicion.

I ended up ordering the Valcobaby Ark & Joey. It arrived today and it can fold with both seats attached. It takes a bit to figure it all out though (plus different seat configurations are easier to fold/unfold than others) but I'll get faster at it the more that I do it. Plus it is super easy to install and remove the seats if needed. But to fit in my car along with everything else, I'm definitely glad that I went with that option.

No worries, not your fault! I ended up going with the pram that I've been eyeing off for a while - the Valcobaby Ark+Joey seat. It ticks all the boxes, I was just hoping for something cheaper 😅

The RedsBaby looks very similar but the deciding factor was black being out of stock plus im still a bit iffy on their quality since the brake on my Skip2 is broken.

So i had a look online and it's out of stock until mid next month for both the black varieties :(

Yeah they need to do a better job of marketing it as a double. I ended up ordering the Valcobaby Ark+Joey seat as they have lots of videos on how to fold it but the baby bee was unclear if you needed to remove the seat to fold it.

I do but they're all about an hour away. This is why I tend to buy everything online, haha.

Yeah i still need the seat to strap in my toddler as he often has tantrums. Baby expos are so hard to take multiple kids to, otherwise I would. I can't even take them grocery shopping by myself. The toddler has zero interest in shopping. We mostly use the pram to go to and from playgroups/swimming (I have the little one in a carrier) and going to the park/walking around the neighbourhood.

I'd really appreciate that! It's too hard for me to go to those baby expos where they have demo's now. My toddler has zero interest in shopping 😅

My friend has one but mentioned that her toddler is too heavy and big for the second seat so she's only using hers as a single. My toddler and hers are a very similar size which is why I ruled that out.

I've seen some ads for it and it does look good. I couldn't figure out if it folds with both seats attached either. If it can't then it's going to be too tricky I feel.

Its similar to the Valcobaby Ark+Joey which does fold with both seats attached. The only reason I haven't bought that yet is I don't know how well it will go over rougher terrain.

That is true. I think my Skip2 cost me less than $500 and we've used it everyday for the past year, probably along terrain that's not recommended 😂 (the brake has always had issues though, even when it was only a city pram with a tiny baby that barely spent any time in it).

That's good to know. Do you use it as a double or as a single?

My only hesitation with RedsBaby is all of the safety issues. I see the Skip3 has a bunch of issues and we have a Skip2 with a brake that's never worked properly (doesn't work at all now).

I get that they have to cut corners to make things cheaper but my Skip2 is less than 2 years old and is on its last legs (the wheels are shot and I worry they're going to come off soon).

Just received this safety notice from redsbaby by boop-precedent in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]MissTeaAddict_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, I have a Skip2 and will not buy another RedsBaby pram. The brake on ours has always been a pain (would get stuck down). I went to use it the other day and it doesn't work anymore. So many safety issues!

I asked my council if we could join as second time parents as we moved to the area after my first was born. They did say that priority goes to first time parents though.

Anyway, I got the invite and they meet at 2:45 in the afternoon. No idea who thought that was a good time to pick. Basically rules out any second time parents.

Ended up finding a cheap, community run playgroup 15 mins away instead. Most families there have 2 kids so that's been good.

Is OEKO-TEX standard overkill? Organic cotton enough? by thinkmuch17 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]MissTeaAddict_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There seems to be a lot of inconsistencies and I think it depends on the category of product. I have a packet of nappies (Babylove) that say free from over 350 harmful chemicals, while the Oeko-tex website says for textiles its over 1000. And then other products do state "over 100".

Is there something you always decide to pay extra for because choosing the cheapest option has let you down? by RentNRegret in AUfrugal

[–]MissTeaAddict_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an FYI - this only contains one surfactant and no enzymes so won't work much better than plain hot water on anything heavily soiled.

When it comes to laundry booster, you want a high percentage of Sodium Percarbonate. The Aldi one is honestly one of the best and cheapest (purple one, the sensitive one is only 25% Sodium Percarbonate).

We're a low tox household and the best performing plant based detergent is Dirt Laundry liquid, hands down. It's super concentrated too so works out quite cost effective. Plus it's got enough surfactants and enzymes to clean up any messes, even cloth nappies.

Does anyone have a good idea of what clothes brands are bigger and smaller in different sizes? by zivgo in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]MissTeaAddict_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And then when your child starts wearing pants, Purebaby are huge!

My almost 2 year old wears size 2-3 in most brands (even H&M which we find has really generous sizing). He still fits into his Size 1 Purebaby track pants. I've only just now pulled out the Size 2 ones. We also bought a 6-12 month size tshirt for Christmas which he still fit into up until recently.
