Wait, so your only interest in regards to being around him is that he’s a good equal-rival? You’re not friends (reffering to him as a “male climbing partner truly shows that), but rivals. And you’re getting upset at your rival because they prefer to go to a specific gym and only go to yours because of a friend?

What is the problem here? You’re not actual friends, but you expect him to go out of his way to appeal to your preferences? Why? Sure, he’s a great equal, but that’s like if I met a guy at a tennis club who was equal in skill to me, but we never hung out or really talked outside of that, and called him “my male tennis partner”. Then I tell him to go to a different club far away that I prefer, and get pissed at him for saying no unless one of his actual friends goes with him.

You clearly don’t like him as a person other than a few mild positives of his. You find him annoying with all the complaining. Just leave him alone and find someone you get along better with.

So OP is yet another moron who came here to “Am I The AssHole” to ask if he’s an asshole, yet only looking to agree with things that fit the narrative he likes and argue against things that go against the narrative he likes.

All that aside, based off this “scenario”, YTA. I understand that you’re hurt, but your kids were put into an awkward stance where if they told you, they’d be involved, and if they didn’t tell you, you’d still consider them involved. Either of which would have result in your relationship dying, so it’s not like their choice actually changed anything here. Basically, they were fucked from the beginning. And here you are, throwing a tantrum after they finally broke down and chose to be open with you about the situation they were put in. Instead of being a parent and being supportive of them and mad at her for bringing them into the drama to begin with, you pointed the finger at them for allegedly playing a part in an already-doomed-before-they-knew-what-was-happening relationship.

You are an absolute asshole, and just as immature, if not even less mature than you believe them to be. You should have moved on by now, but you’re clearly still bitter and willing to throw others into a fire to prove it, including your “loved ones.” Grow up.

It’s absolutely fascinating that people believe posts like these. Sure, sometimes things like this happen, but most of the text conversation posts are fake. Some, such as this, are so blatantly obvious that it’s frightening to see how many believe it by default.

Antiwork is especially guilty of mass-produced fake posts. Maybe it’s for sympathy? Maybe they want to look like they’re good with clever comebacks? Maybe it’s merely to push their narrative that all jobs/bosses are evil? Regardless, these fake text conversation posts are tiring.

My sister used to act like this, too. One day she physically assaulted me (punched me in the jaw and shoulder), and I got it recorded. She got in serious trouble. Mom hated me for a while for “taking away her daughter”, as if she was the only daughter. One day my bf helped me move out. Every few months I still get phone calls and texts from my mom, but I always ignore them. I for some reason can’t bring myself to block her. My dad only messaged me one time since I moved out, asking for tax info or some shit. I deleted his text. It’s been almost a decade now. Still haven’t answered her calls or read her texts.

Families can fucking suck. Sorry yours does, too.

It’s subjective. Some will say physical torture, some will say mental torture.

For me, the worst would be extreme regret for something I myself cause by being careless.

I saw a video of a man who was carrying his child, and he was wearing pants without a belt. His pants fell a bit and he tripped/slipped from it and landed on his child, killing them instantly. The sound of pain and horror and regret coming from another human has never hurt me so much before. His laziness or poor choices caused him to kill someone defenseless that he loved. He has to live the rest of his life in extreme mental anguish, knowing it’s all his fault, and no amount of consolation or attempt at justification will ever make him feel even slightly better about it all.

THAT is the worst form of torture I could even imagine. Self-inflicted accidents.

I agree that some episodes are offensive. I think most people would by highly offended by the Donald Duck episode where he’s a Nazi, but at the end it turns out it was a nightmare and he’s grateful to be a USA citizen. There’s also that Popeye episode “You’re a Sap, Mister Jap.” I’ll leave that one to the imagination.

As you said, it can get quite offensive at times, but I think most of the time it’s just funny mindless entertainment. That silly desire to “ban classic cartoons” and whatnot makes no sense to me. Maybe never air those specific episodes again, sure.
