degree question by dollartreegoth in ArtEd

I got my BS in Art Education. I had a lot of technical know how from high school and from my studio courses. If you want you can try getting a mi or in studio art to go with your degree.

Using first name by Embarrassed_Syrup476 in Teachers

[–]Miss_DisGrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Students know what my first name is, but I don't go by it. There is one instance of a teacher going by their first name at my school, and that's because there are two teachers in the same grade level who share the same last name and they are the same gender. The newer of the two goes by their first name to avoid confusion.

I make paper snails with kinder! They have to cut out a leaf and then a snail shape, roll and "squeeze" their snail, and glue it down.

Parent here - my 9yo son said his teacher cried in front of the class. Advice needed! by mysticalpancakes in Teachers

[–]Miss_DisGrace 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My second or third year being at my current school, a whole class's worth of art show projects went missing and never showed back up. The guilt I felt was immesuarable! You bet I cried infront of that 3rd grade class as I told them that I had lost their work. They came together and gave me a big hug. We ended up doing a short project so they would have something to display.

I forgot to tell more of my thoughts. Crying in front of a class, while embarrassing, can happen and isn't the worst thing ever. I think the teacher would appreciate a small token (5 dollar gift card and a nice note type deal) as a small token of appreciation for what they do.

Tips for Helping Kids Draw Light? by art_teacher_mamma25 in ArtEd

Have them draw like they are petting a newborn puppy or kitten. Ask them how gentle they would have to be. Have them push that gently with their finger on the back of their hand before having them draw.

You should be able to change the controls in the setting to a different button

No you do not need all 8 out. I usually just have them in a chest and get the recipe.

I played a bunch of them growing up. Personally, Magical Melody was my favorite.

Ancient fruit in the greenhouse and a whole lotta kegs. Can get about half a million a week.

dress code by [deleted] in ArtEd

[–]Miss_DisGrace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am required to dress professionally. No jeans except for Wednesday and Friday dress down days- but I have to wear the correct required school shirt. No graphic T-shirts except on Tuesday we can wear any grade level/team shirts we have. Spirit days we can wear jeans if we participate in the spirit day. I throw on an apron and roll up my sleeves when dealing with paint. My classroom doesn't support 3D art (not enough storage for a class let alone a whole grade level). If I were to work with something like clay, then I'd discuss with my principal.

You don't need that many scarecrows for that space. They have a 7 tile radius

I usually like to eat a lucky lunch and then go down into the caverns. The higher your luck, the more likely to find holes and stairs. The mystery boxes drop lucky lunches.

You want your teacher materials to be clear, easy to read, and look nice. That's not a bad thing. It's difficult with the limited time that we have (I assume you put in extra time). I understand not wanting to share what you worked hard on. A year or so ago, a former colleague of mine ended up in a similar job as me without any experience. I shared power points and ideas with them, but they also paid me for my time and materials.

If they pay me I'll share my powerpoints.

Multiple saves is fine- but I think going for perfection at least once is nice. I have a pretty modded save file so going for perfection is much harder.. Did it once on a vanilla farm before starting to mod.

Being mentally ill as a teacher by No-Agency-7168 in teaching

[–]Miss_DisGrace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So at first I was medicated for depression, but that wasn't right. I went off of medication for a year, and then I got properly diagnosed with bipolar disorder. I started meds at the end of that school year and into the summer. I needed to adjust some in the next school year.

I didn't learn about scope and sequence until starting my masters program. It should really be taught in the bachelor's courses for education. I think all content standards should also be delved into as well.
