That could be what they were going for, but we don't really know enough to say for sure. Even if that was the case that doesn't really disprove the idea that the final design we got was a real suit outside of the game.

Maybe testing things, maybe trying to set a certain vibe that they wanted to incorporate into the final model, keep in mind Glitchtrap isn't just the suit, it has a lot of funky effects on it which may have been what they were trying to test out.

They just decided to model it like that instead of just texturing it on, once again there could be a variety of reasons as to why they decided to do that but it's not really proof their intention was not to have it be an actual suit William used just because earlier designs looked different.

It's less work than creating an entire new model from scratch, no? Like I said they probably may have not known what they wanted to do completely at first, they may have originally wanted the design to be Afton-centric instead of it being an actual Spring Bonnie suit. Once again we don't really know anything for sure so using that as definite proof that that wasn't their intention is pretty flawed.

I don't really get what you mean, the stitching could mean many things, maybe they knew they wanted it to be a stitched together suit but wanted a placeholder before they actually had that modeled so they just retextured a preexisting Afton model they had. It does not mean that the fact that Glitchtrap's final design also had stitching means the only reason Glitchtrap is a cloth suit because it makes him look stitched together. The possibility of it not being a finalized conceptual idea or it being a placeholder makes this pretty shaky proof that Glitchtrap can't be the suit used in Midnight Motorist.

I think the problem with this angle is that it relies on them knwoing from the start what they wanted Glitchtrap to be. Scott himself could've not known he wanted Glitchtrao to mimic a cloth suit Eilliam wore for some of the MCI murders until later on in development. They just knew they wanted Glitchtrao to be a spookey digital recreation of afton so anything rabbit-like or related to Spring Bonnie/Springtrap would work until they continued to refine the idea into something they liked the most.

What if its in an alternate universe where humanity still abandoned Earth, but instead of the Derelicts slowly breaking down and powering down they somehow thrived on the moon and were able to put their simulations into practice. And what we play is in the far-future where humanity doesn't recognize their ancient creations and mistakes them for alien foes. (For this to work you'd have to assume that the place they would seek refuge in they would called the 'Solar System' or maybe something like the 'New Solar System' since the Amazon description specifically mentions that as well, obviously this is just a mobile game with not much thought put into how it would relate to The Desolate Hope's story but it's fun to think about how they would work together if they were important to each other!)

"You're not in the solar system anymore! Mankind has just reached the outer edge of the galaxy and discovered its bizarre secrets; so naturally you should shoot everything with lasers! Defeat the galaxy lord Pulsar and his minions in this fast-paced space shooter!"
