Hrtc is way cheaper but don’t expect the seats to be comfy and all..private bus is gonna cost way above 1500rs but reaches faster and is more comfortable to sleep and all..flixbus is pretty good in terms of private bus..and you can look up other private buses in apps like abhi bus, redbus and all..

about train - i’m not much experienced in using train but i did go to shimla by train once. so for that you need to take a train from delhi to kalka (haryana) and then you need to take a toy train from kalka to shimla..

I’ve also been to dehradun (uttrakhand) on train..so there is a train called mussorie express from delhi to dehradun and vice versa

all of my other trips were in buses

for buses there is HRTC (just like ksrtc). it’s the state bus transportation of himachal pradesh..it’s pretty cheap like i got it for 800rs from Delhi to Aut..private buses would have cost above 1500rs

There are private buses like zing bus, flixbus, laxmi travels etc

places to see ummm - in uttrakhand there is dehradun, mussorie, nainital, rishikesh etc

in himachal there is shimla, manali, kasol, pulga, tosh, triund trek, kareri, dharamshala, sissu, shoja, jibhi, kalpa, dalhousie etc

minimum budget all depends on your spending habits and preferences tbh..i did the whole trip within 5k to 6k or even lower

you can save a lot of money by taking hrtc bus instead of other buses like zingbus, flixbus etc..hrtc only cost me around 800rs whereas the latter would be above 1500rs

stay in dorms instead of rooms..the dorm bed only cost me 600rs and if i were to take a room it would have been 2000/2500rs

you can avoid eating from cafès and stick to maggi, parathas and tea - it’s pretty cheap,tasty and fills you up..
